</excerpt>

Amid ongoing ruckus over the ED filing a prosecution complaint against Sonia and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case, Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday asserted that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) must be “abolished” since departments including Income Tax already exist to tackle economic offences.

“In my understanding, a department like ED must be abolished. I will ask Congress to ask for the same thing. There are several institutions that look into economic offences. Having ED means that you are not even trusting your own organisations like the Income Tax department or GST,” Akhilesh Yadav, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, said in a press conference.

विपक्ष के ख़िलाफ़ ED की Negativity को देखते हुए ED के बीच में N लगाकर उसको END कर देना चाहिए। pic.twitter.com/jav0xLxvhG

— Akhilesh Yadav (@yadavakhilesh) April 16, 2025

He stated that many parties had opposed the establishment of ED during the Congress’ tenure, telling them that it might cause them trouble in the future. He added that leaders who spoke against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Maharashtra had to face investigative agencies.

“The Congress itself made this ED law. At that time, many parties opposed it, telling Congress that you were bringing such a law that could ultimately cause trouble to you. Any leader who was against the BJP in Maharashtra faced ED, CBI, and the income tax department,” Yadav added.

Meanwhile, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday criticised the BJP-led government, accusing it of targeting the Congress party to cover up its failures. This follows the Enforcement Directorate’s prosecution complaint against Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and others in the alleged National Herald money laundering case.

Mallikarjun Kharge claimed that the BJP-led government’s economic mismanagement was spiralling out of control and said there was no vision or solutions, only attempts to divert attention from its mistakes.

Taking to social media, X, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge wrote, “Your despotic Sarkar is hell-bent on targeting the Congress to whitewash its own sins. BJP’s economic mismanagement is spiralling out of control. Desperation is gathering steam. No vision, no solution, only diversion!”

On Tuesday, the ED filed a prosecution complaint (chargesheet) in Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court against Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Sam Pitroda, Suman Dubey and others, including several firms. The matter has been listed for arguments on cognisance in the Delhi Rouse Avenue Court on April 25.

</excerpt>

Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav has urged the Uttar Pradesh government to extend the duration of the Maha Kumbh, citing the massive influx of devotees still attempting to attend. He pointed out that in previous years, the Maha Kumbh and Kumbh Mela lasted 75 days, whereas the current event is scheduled for a shorter period.

“Even now, many people want to go to Maha Kumbh but cannot. In such a situation, the government should extend the time limit of Maha Kumbh,” Mr. Yadav stated.

Social media visuals depict packed trains, congested roads, and enormous crowds making their way to the Maha Kumbh. Earlier this week, roads leading to the event experienced severe traffic jams stretching for kilometers. The Prayagraj Sangam railway station was also temporarily shut down due to overcrowding.

Additionally, Mr. Yadav accused the state government of hiding the actual death toll from last month’s stampede at the Maha Kumbh.

The Maha Kumbh, recognized as the world’s largest spiritual gathering, commenced on January 13 and is scheduled to conclude on February 26, coinciding with Maha Shivaratri. According to state government data, over 50 crore people have taken a holy dip at the Sangam as of Friday evening—surpassing the combined population of Russia and the United States.

On Friday alone, over 92 lakh devotees took a dip, pushing the total Maha Kumbh footfall past 50 crore as of February 14, according to the state government.

</excerpt>

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) “double-engine” government of concealing the actual number of deaths in the recent stampede at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. He demanded strict disciplinary action against those attempting to cover up the alleged mismanagement in organizing the religious fair.

Participating in the debate on the motion of thanks on the President’s address, Yadav called for an all-party meeting to discuss the arrangements at the Maha Kumbh and suggested that disaster management and the lost and found center at the fair be handed over to the army.

“At a time when the government is continuously reeling out the budget numbers, I urge them to first give the numbers of those who died in the Maha Kumbh. For an explanation on the arrangements at Kumbh, I demand that an all-party meeting be called. If there is no criminal intent, why is the data being suppressed, hidden, and deleted?” Yadav said, emphasizing that suppressing and destroying evidence is also a crime.

The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister also called for disciplinary action against those who attempted to cover up the “mismanagement” of the Kumbh arrangements.

“The figures for the deaths in the Maha Kumbh stampede, treatment of injured, availability of medicines, doctors, food, water, transport should be presented in Parliament,” he said.

A pre-dawn stampede occurred on January 29 during the ongoing Maha Kumbh, as millions of devotees jostled for space before taking a dip at the holy Sangam on Mauni Amavasya, considered one of the most auspicious days of the six-week festival. According to the Uttar Pradesh government, 30 people were killed and 60 others were injured in the tragedy, which took place between 1 am and 2 am on Wednesday.

Continuing his attack, Yadav criticized the government for claiming to organize a “digital Kumbh” while allegedly failing to disclose the number of deaths.

“Those who guaranteed a digital Kumbh are unable to give the digits of the people who died during the stampede. On one side, these people don’t get tired ranting digital, digital, digital, but the same government is not able to give digits of the deaths,” he said.

He also accused the BJP government of breaking an age-old tradition by disrupting the seers’ “shahi snan” (royal bath) at the Sangam, which was supposed to take place at a specific “mahurat” (auspicious time).

“After the stampede, the government ordered seers to put off their shahi snan and broke with the traditions of the Sanatan dharma. When there was a hue and cry, the government ordered them to re-commence the shahi snan, forgetting that the holy bath has to be taken,” Yadav said.

He further alleged that authorities used JCB machines and tractor-trolleys to clear away bodies after the stampede.

“People came to earn blessings (punya), but had to leave with the bodies of near and dear ones. The miracle here was that the government found bodies but was refusing to accept the numbers,” he said.

“The government showered petals from helicopters when bodies were lying in the mortuary. What kind of Sanatan traditions are these? The bodies were lying around, footwear and clothes were strewn all over. JCB machines and tractor trolleys were used to throw them away. When this raised a hue and cry, the government rushed to cover up,” he alleged.

Yadav also took a dig at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, stating, “He expressed grief a good 17 hours after the President and Prime Minister expressed grief over the tragedy.”

Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav announced on Wednesday that his party is supporting AAP in Delhi, noting that AAP is stronger than Congress in the region. Speaking to ANI, he explained, “The regional party fighting against the BJP should be supported by the leaders of the INDIA alliance. AAP and Congress are fighting against each other in Delhi. AAP is strong, and we have decided to stand with them. The question is about Delhi, and our goal is to defeat the BJP. Congress and AAP share the same goal.”

INDIA Alliance Remains Solid, Says Yadav

Yadav further emphasized that the INDIA alliance is still intact. He added, “I remember when the INDIA alliance was formed, it was decided that wherever a regional party was strong, the alliance would extend support to them.”

CPI’s D Raja Acknowledges INDIA Bloc’s Division

However, CPI General Secretary D Raja acknowledged the fragmentation within the INDIA alliance. He admitted that the opposition is divided, particularly in Delhi, where AAP and Congress are contesting separately. Raja said, “It is a fact that the Opposition is divided. AAP is contesting on its own, Congress is contesting on its own, and Left parties are contesting wherever they are capable of putting up a fight.”

BJP Claims INDIA Alliance Is ‘Scattered’

BJP leaders have criticized the INDIA bloc, claiming it has no clear direction. Union Home Minister Amit Shah previously stated that the alliance is falling apart. He pointed out that in Mumbai, Shiv Sena (UBT) and Congress are preparing to contest the elections separately. “The INDIA alliance has completely disintegrated,” Shah said.

Delhi Assembly Elections Approach

The Delhi assembly elections are scheduled for February 5, with results to be counted on February 8. AAP has already announced its candidates for all 70 seats, while BJP has named candidates for 59 seats. The last date to file nominations is January 17, with scrutiny on January 18 and withdrawal deadlines by January 20.

Congress Struggles, AAP Dominates

While Congress once held power in Delhi for 15 consecutive years, it has faced major setbacks in recent elections. In contrast, AAP dominated the 2020 Delhi assembly elections, winning 62 out of 70 seats, leaving the BJP with only 8.

The AAP National Convenor also criticized Congress for its alliance and secretly partnership with BJP.
</excerpt>

Ahead of the Delhi assembly elections, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal confirmed that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Samajwadi Party (SP) have announced their support for AAP. Kejriwal expressed his gratitude to both parties for their backing in the crucial upcoming polls.

In a post on social media platform X, former CM thanked West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC Chairperson Mamata Banerjee for her party’s support. “TMC has announced support to AAP in Delhi elections. I am personally grateful to Mamata Didi. Thank you, Didi. You have always supported and blessed us in our good and bad times,” Kejriwal wrote.

TMC’s Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien swiftly responded, reinforcing the support for AAP, saying, “We have your back @AamAadmiParty.”

Similarly, on Tuesday night, Kejriwal expressed his thanks to Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav. “Thank you very much Akhilesh ji. You always support and stand with us. I and the people of Delhi are grateful for this,” Kejriwal wrote in Hindi, sharing a report that confirmed SP’s backing for AAP in the elections.

Continued Support from TMC and SP After 2020 Delhi Elections

The TMC and SP had also supported AAP during the 2020 Delhi assembly elections, where AAP secured a resounding victory. Derek O’Brien had uploaded a video in 2020 endorsing not just Kejriwal but all AAP candidates. Akhilesh Yadav had also congratulated Kejriwal on his party’s success following the elections.

Kejriwal Criticizes Congress for Its Alleged Alliance with BJP

While AAP has garnered significant support from TMC and SP, Kejriwal took the opportunity to hit out at the Congress after Ashok Gehlot, Congress leader and Rajasthan Chief Minister, claimed that AAP leaders were delusional about their chances of victory. Gehlot argued that Congress was campaigning well and expected positive results in the upcoming Delhi elections.

In response, Kejriwal accused Congress of secretly aligning with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). “It’s clear that Congress sees AAP as its main opposition in Delhi, and BJP as its partner,” Kejriwal wrote on X. He further stated that this covert alliance between Congress and BJP had now been made public, thanking them on behalf of the people of Delhi for revealing their true stance.

Political Landscape in Delhi Ahead of 2025 Assembly Polls

As the Delhi assembly elections approach, the political environment remains heated. With strong support from TMC and SP and criticism aimed at Congress, AAP’s convenor continues to cement his position as the AAP’s candidate for Chief Minister.

Addressing the gathering, Akhilesh Yadav paid tribute to the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and described him as a towering figure in Indian politics. He said, “Netaji’s vision and leadership continue to inspire millions. This statue stands as a symbol of his contributions to the state and the nation.”

Strongly accredited as “Netaji” to his fans, Mulayam Singh Yadav was the founder of the Samajwadi Party, established in 1992, and was a strong element defining the political scenario of Uttar Pradesh. His grassroots connections combined with social justice focus made him a dominant force until his death.

</excerpt>

Following the Supreme Court’s ruling on using bulldozers for demolitions, BJP MLA Sidharth Nath Singh welcomed the decision on Thursday, emphasizing that the Uttar Pradesh government had already been adhering to the defined legal procedure. The verdict mandates adherence to statutory guidelines before any demolition action is taken.

Singh stated that if someone engages in illegal construction, the government retains the right to demolish it, provided the proper legal procedure is followed.

“The Supreme Court stated that illegal constructions cannot be demolished arbitrarily. It outlined a procedure, and the UP government was already following it. If someone grabs government land and builds illegally, the bulldozer will act within the law,” Singh told ANI.

Supreme Court’s Directives on Demolitions

The Supreme Court, in its ruling on Wednesday, directed that no demolition should occur without issuing a prior 15-day show-cause notice to the property owner and following statutory procedures. The court also asserted that the executive branch cannot assume the role of a judge and unilaterally decide on the guilt of an accused person by demolishing their property.

“The executive cannot become a judge and decide that a person accused is guilty, and therefore, punish them by demolishing their residential or commercial properties,” stated the judgment delivered by Justices BR Gavai and KV Vishwanathan.

Akhilesh Yadav Criticizes BJP’s Bulldozer Politics

Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav criticized the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government following the Supreme Court’s decision. He remarked that the court’s ruling would effectively curb the BJP’s aggressive use of bulldozers in demolitions, which has become a symbol of the government’s approach.

“The Supreme Court has commented against the bulldozer, which has become the symbol of this BJP government. I thank the Supreme Court for this decision against the government,” Yadav said at a rally.

The ruling has significant implications for the Yogi Adityanath government’s use of bulldozers in Uttar Pradesh, particularly in cases of alleged illegal constructions. The directive from the Supreme Court to follow due process has sparked mixed reactions, with BJP leaders defending their stance and opposition parties, like the Samajwadi Party, seizing the opportunity to criticize the state’s bulldozer policy.

This decision comes as part of broader judicial scrutiny over the executive’s use of force in demolitions, especially in politically charged contexts. The Supreme Court’s emphasis on legal procedures seeks to balance the government’s authority with individual property rights.

They are demanding that both exams be scheduled on the same day to avoid confusion and inconvenience. In response to the protests, police resorted to lathi-charge on the demonstrators.

Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav condemned the police’s actions, particularly the lathi-charge on female students. He took to social media, stating, “Today’s youth say, we don’t want BJP!” Yadav further criticized the BJP government, saying, “The anti-youth BJP’s lathicharge on girl students is a highly condemnable act. When the candidates raised their demands to stop the rigging in UPPSC in Allahabad, the corrupt BJP government became violent. We repeat again: Jobs are not in the agenda of BJP. We are with the youth.”

The protests stem from the UPPSC’s decision to hold the PCS-2024 preliminary exam on December 7-8, and the RO-ARO-2024 preliminary exam on December 22-23, in two separate phases. Students are upset over this new arrangement, especially considering that the RO/ARO-2023 exam, previously scheduled for one day, had to be canceled after a paper leak scandal.

Prashant Pandey, media in-charge of the Competitive Students Struggle Committee, mentioned that under the original recruitment notification, the exam was initially set for one day, but the commission’s change of procedure and implementation of normalization has led to widespread discontent among students.

The protests have led to significant disruption, with police, PAC, and RAF forces deployed to manage the crowd. Roads near the commission were blocked, and traffic was halted as students broke through barricades to continue their protest.

The issue has now become a point of contention between the students and the state government, with students calling for a resolution to align the examination schedules and address concerns about fairness in the process.

Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav took aim at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday, accusing it of turning into a “rishtedar-wadi” (family-oriented) party. This jibe comes in response to the BJP’s decision to field Anujesh Yadav, who is related to Akhilesh, in the Karhal assembly bypolls.

Family Ties in Karhal Contest

During an event in Mainpuri’s Dihuli area, Yadav stated, “They used to accuse us of being family-oriented, but now they’ve surpassed us and have become ‘rishtedar-wadi’.” Anujesh Yadav, BJP’s candidate for the by-election, is Akhilesh Yadav’s brother-in-law and the uncle-in-law (‘fufa’) of SP’s candidate Tej Pratap Yadav, making the election a “fufa versus bhatija” (uncle vs. nephew) battle. Karhal, traditionally an SP stronghold since 1993, now sees family members pitted against each other.

Responding to Akhilesh’s remarks, Uttar Pradesh Minister of State for Social Welfare Asim Arun contended that the bypoll is a “fight of policies, a fight between truth and lies, and one between criminals and those abiding by law.” Arun emphasized changes in law enforcement, claiming that the current administration’s policies have reduced crime in areas like Mainpuri.

Upcoming Bypolls Across Nine Seats

The Karhal seat is one of nine assembly constituencies up for a bypoll on November 13. The by-elections, which include seats in Ambedkar Nagar (Katehari), Muzaffarnagar (Meerapur), Ghaziabad, Mirzapur (Majhawan), Kanpur (Sishamau), Aligarh (Khair), Prayagraj (Phulpur), and Moradabad (Kundarki), will have their results declared on November 23. The Karhal seat was vacated by Akhilesh Yadav following his election to the Lok Sabha from Kannauj.

In a post on X, Yadav emphasized, “It is not about seats but about winning.” He stated that under this strategy, the joint candidates of the INDIA Bloc will represent all nine constituencies with the Samajwadi Party’s symbol. Yadav expressed confidence in a united front, saying, “The Congress and the Samajwadi Party are united and standing shoulder to shoulder for a big victory. The INDIA Bloc is set to write a new chapter of success in this by-election.”

He further noted that the strength of the Samajwadi Party has significantly increased due to support from the Congress leadership and grassroots workers. “With this unprecedented cooperation, every worker of the INDIA Bloc in all nine assembly seats is energized with the determination to win. This election is crucial for saving the Constitution, harmony, and the dignity of the PDA. Therefore, we urge everyone: not a single vote should be lost or divided,” Yadav added.

Previously, he mentioned ongoing discussions between the Samajwadi Party and Congress regarding seat-sharing arrangements for the by-polls scheduled for November 13.

As of Wednesday, 19 candidates had filed nominations for the Uttar Pradesh assembly by-elections, bringing the total to 34, with more expected before the nomination period closes on October 25. The elections will cover nine assembly seats, including Meerapur, Kundarki, Ghaziabad, Khair, Karhal, Phulpur, and Katehari. Notably, the poll body has called for by-elections in nine of the ten vacant seats, excluding Milkipur in Ayodhya district.

These by-polls are part of a broader electoral process affecting 48 constituencies across 15 states, including Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal. Polling is set for November 13, with vote counting scheduled for November 23.

Yadav stated, “Whatever happened in Bahraich was planned by the BJP in view of the upcoming elections in the state.”

The unrest began following the death of Ram Gopal Mishra, a 22-year-old resident of Rehua Mansoor village, who was shot during a religious procession on October 13. The incident escalated into communal violence after a dispute over loud music played outside a place of worship in Maharajganj. This turmoil resulted in protests that saw shops, vehicles, and a hospital set ablaze, prompting the authorities to impose an internet shutdown for four days.

Legal and Administrative Actions

In the aftermath of Mishra’s death, authorities registered at least 11 FIRs in connection with the violence, involving around 1,000 individuals, including six named suspects. Two men accused of killing Mishra were shot in the leg by police during an encounter while allegedly attempting to flee to Nepal.

Following the unrest, a station house officer (SHO) and a police outpost in-charge were suspended. Additionally, Circle Officer Rupendra Gaur, Tehsildar Ravikant Dwivedi, and District Information Officer Ghulam Waris Siddiqui were removed from their positions.

In related developments, the Uttar Pradesh administration issued demolition notices to several individuals in the area. The Allahabad High Court has granted these individuals additional time to file their replies, with the next hearing scheduled for October 23.

“Jai Prakash Narayan preached integrity and values. Akhilesh Yadav should stop playing his dirty politics,” said Deo, in a statement targeting the SP leader. This comes as tensions rose between the two parties over access to the JPNIC on the birth anniversary of the revered freedom fighter.

Samajwadi Workers Clash with Police, Protests Erupt

In response to the denial of permission for Yadav to enter the JPNIC, Samajwadi Party workers protested outside his residence. Visuals emerged of party members climbing over barricades set up by the police. One worker was seen tying himself in chains, staging a symbolic protest against the restrictions.

Akhilesh Yadav had earlier criticized the Uttar Pradesh government for blocking access to the JPNIC, claiming it was an attempt to prevent him from paying homage to Jai Prakash Narayan. “They have blocked the main gate of the JPNIC to stop me from entering,” Yadav said.

Akhilesh Yadav’s Allegations Against BJP

Akhilesh Yadav, in a series of posts on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), accused the ruling BJP of obstructing tributes to Jai Prakash Narayan and engaging in “negative” actions. He alleged that barricades had been placed outside his private residence to stop SP members from garlanding the socialist leader’s statue.

“The BJP’s every action symbolizes negativity,” Yadav wrote. “They have blocked the way for paying homage, as well as numerous other progressive causes like social justice, farmers’ rights, and youth development.”

In a broader attack, Yadav accused the BJP of being opposed to freedom fighters and the independence movement. “The BJP has always been against freedom fighters and the freedom movement. They learned how to block the path by living with colonial powers and secretly supporting them,” Yadav posted on X.

He concluded by claiming that public sentiment was increasingly turning against the BJP, writing, “Everyone says today, we don’t want BJP.”

In response to Yadav’s accusations, BJP spokesperson Pratul Shah Deo called the SP chief’s actions politically motivated. “Akhilesh Yadav is trying to exploit the situation for political gain. He could have paid tribute elsewhere if his intentions were genuine,” said Deo.

With both parties trading barbs, the incident has heightened political tensions as both continue to spar over Jai Prakash Narayan’s legacy.

He called on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to withdraw his party’s support from the BJP-led central government over the issue.
This follows the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) denying Yadav permission to visit the Jai Prakash Narayan International Centre (JPNIC), citing safety concerns at the ongoing construction site.

Safety Concerns at JPNIC Cited by LDA

According to the LDA, the JPNIC site is currently under construction with scattered materials, which could pose a hazard. A letter from the LDA stated, “JPNIC is a construction site where construction material is spread haphazardly, and there is a possibility of many insects due to rain.” They also highlighted that Yadav’s Z-plus security makes it unsafe for him to visit the site.

Akhilesh Yadav’s Response and Allegations

In defiance of the denial, Yadav garlanded a statue of Jai Prakash Narayan on a road outside the JPNIC. He alleged that the Uttar Pradesh government is attempting to sell the JPNIC. “They are conspiring to sell this museum and have covered it up,” he claimed.
Yadav further criticized the BJP, stating that the government is trying to prevent socialists from honoring Jai Prakash Narayan. He also questioned the respect shown by BJP leaders towards prominent historical figures.

Yadav called upon Nitish Kumar to take a stand, noting that the Bihar CM himself emerged from Jai Prakash Narayan’s movement. “This is a chance for Nitish Kumar to withdraw support from the government which is not allowing Socialists to pay tribute,” he said.

Responding to Yadav’s allegations, BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari accused the SP chief of politicizing the issue. He stated that Yadav could have paid tribute elsewhere if he had genuine intentions and criticized the SP for “forgetting the ideals of Jai Prakash Narayan” by aligning with Congress.

In a newly released booklet, Mayawati claimed that SP chief Akhilesh Yadav stopped answering calls from BSP leaders after the alliance’s disappointing performance in the polls.

The BSP and SP had contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections together but won only 15 seats combined—Mayawati securing 10 and Yadav five in Uttar Pradesh. According to Mayawati, the lack of communication and the poor electoral outcome led to the decision to end the alliance. “To preserve the honour of the party, we had to break the alliance with SP,” she stated in the booklet.

Mayawati also criticized the SP-Congress alliance in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, alleging that it has misled voters in the Pichhda, Dalit, and Alpasankhyak (PDA) communities by promising to protect the Constitution and reservations. She cautioned that the PDA communities would gain little from this alliance and urged vigilance against the SP.

The booklet, aimed at BSP party workers, outlines the party’s ideology and strategy for the forthcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections and provides insights into the critical decisions made by Mayawati.

His comments followed a recent Supreme Court order that called for guidelines on the use of bulldozers on immovable properties by government authorities.

Speaking at a press conference, Yadav accused the UP government of using bulldozers as a tool for revenge and humiliation against specific individuals. “The government deliberately ran bulldozers on those they wanted to target or disgrace. The same people who used bulldozers to intimidate others by demolishing homes across various places—can they prove that the map of the Chief Minister’s residence was approved? Show us the documents,” Yadav challenged.

He further referenced the Supreme Court’s stance, questioning whether the government would now apologize for the bulldozer operations conducted so far. “Yesterday, the Supreme Court stated that bulldozers cannot be used arbitrarily. So, will the government apologize for the bulldozer operations that have been ongoing until now? As for the notion of mind and heart, I just want to point out that a bulldozer has no brain—it operates with a steering wheel. The people of Uttar Pradesh have the power to change the steering of anyone’s bulldozer,” Yadav added.

Yadav also took a jab at Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s policy of renaming places in the state, suggesting that the Chief Minister should rename the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to the “Bhartiya Jogi Party.” “Since so many names have been changed, the Chief Minister might as well change the name of the Bharatiya Janata Party too,” Yadav quipped.

Earlier, Yadav responded to CM Adityanath’s accusation that lawlessness was ingrained in the DNA of the Samajwadi Party. In a social media post, Yadav mockingly suggested that Adityanath should first understand the full form of ‘DNA’—Deoxyribonucleic acid—before making such claims. He further criticized the BJP for allegedly spending large sums to recruit MPs and MLAs, advising them to speak less if they wish to maintain respect.

This exchange of barbs between the SP chief and the UP CM follows Yogi Adityanath’s remarks on Tuesday, where he accused Akhilesh Yadav and his uncle Shivpal Yadav of collecting “extortion” money for government jobs during their tenure. Adityanath also claimed that there had been no riots in Uttar Pradesh since his government came to power in 2017, attributing lawlessness and hooliganism to the DNA of the Samajwadi Party.

The accusations come amid reports that the DNA sample of former Samajwadi Party leader Nawab Singh Yadav matched those of a minor girl who was allegedly raped in Kannauj. The SP leader was arrested last month in connection with the case.

</excerpt>

In response to comments made by Samajwadi Party (SP) Chief Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday, BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi questioned whether advocating for women’s rights is considered dirty politics.

Commenting on the SP chief’s remarks about the rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, Sarangi said , “Is standing up for women’s rights dirty politics? Considering the brutality of what happened there and the ongoing incidents in Bengal, if BJP workers are standing with the women and condemning this incident, is that considered politics?”

She further highlighted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) practices positive politics, asserting that they “advocate for the rights of the poor, the exploited, the deprived, the oppressed women, and the youth.”

Earlier on Saturday, SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav criticised the BJP for allegedly using the rape and murder incident at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital for political advantage. He opposed BJP’s calls for Mamata Banerjee’s resignation, arguing that as a woman, Banerjee comprehends the suffering of other women and has acted appropriately. Yadav also pointed out that the West Bengal government had chosen to have the case investigated by the CBI or another institution.

“Mamata Banerjee herself is a woman and understands the pain of a woman. She has taken action as needed. The government has also decided to have the matter investigated by the CBI or another institution. But alongside this, the people of the Bharatiya Janata Party should not politicise the incident, the BJP should not derive political advantage from it,” Yadav said.

On August 9, a postgraduate trainee doctor was reportedly raped and murdered while on duty at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata, triggering nationwide strikes and protests by the medical community. On August 14, a mob vandalised the protest site and the hospital campus at RG Kar, leading security personnel to break up the crowd.

Yadav criticized the questioner and suggested they check the records with the CBI and Income Tax department. He also took a jab at those who make grand claims about their modesty. He said, “Whether you ask me about my income or not, please do ask those people their income, who say that mein apna jhola lekar chala jaunga (I will leave with my bag).” This comment was a reference to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s self-description as a “fakir” during a rally, claiming he would depart with only his few belongings, implying he had no significant assets.

Yadav also questioned why his personal income was a topic of discussion at a conclave focused on India’s growth vision. He suggested that attention should instead be on India’s trade dynamics with China. He remarked, “Traders in our country are not able to develop because we are importing from China, why are we doing business with China – show me those numbers.”

</excerpt>

Union Minority Minister Kiren Rijiju introduced the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, in the Lok Sabha, seeking to amend the Waqf Act, 1995. The proposed bill aims to address issues related to the authority of State Waqf Boards and the Central Waqf Council, enhance the registration and survey of Waqf properties, and tackle encroachments.

During the parliamentary discussion, Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party criticized the bill, calling it a “well-thought-out political strategy.” He questioned the need for nominations when a democratic process is already in place and noted that other religious bodies do not involve non-community members.

Yadav also expressed concerns about historical precedents affecting future generations and accused the BJP of introducing the bill to placate its narrow-minded supporters. He further claimed that even the Speaker’s rights are being encroached upon and emphasized the need to protect democratic principles.

In response, Amit Shah rebutted Yadav’s comments, stating, “I disagree with the assertion that the chairman’s authority is exclusive to the opposition. The authority of the chairman belongs to the entire house, and such statements are unacceptable. You are not the sole protector of the chairman’s authority.”

</excerpt>

Lashing out at the BJP-led NDA government on the Waqf Act Amendment Bill, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday said that in the disguise of amendments, BJP is trying to sell the lands of Waqf Board and instead of ‘Janata’ in BJP, they should add ‘Zameen’ in it.

Taking it to a social media post on X, Yadav wrote, “All these amendments of the ‘Waqf Board’ are just an excuse; Selling lands like defence, railway and Nazul land is the target.”
Hitting out at the BJP, Yadav alleged that the amendments in the Waqf Bill were issued in the interest of the BJP and it’s just another link in the chain of the schemes that benefit BJP.
The tweet added, “Waqf Board lands are just another link in the chain of ‘schemes for the benefit of BJP’ after Defence land, Railway land and Nazul land. Why doesn’t BJP openly write: ‘Issued in the interest of BJP’.”
SP chief further demanded for a “written guarantee” that Waqf Board’s lands would not be sold.
“A written guarantee should be given that the Waqf Board’s lands will not be sold,” the tweet added.
Attacking further, SP supremo Akhilesh Yadav said that the Bharatiya Janata Party should add ‘Zameen’ in their name instead of Janata, as they are working like a real estate company.
“BJP is working like a real estate company. It should change its name by adding ‘Zameen’ instead of ‘Janta’: Bhartiya Zameen Party #nhiiN_caahie_bhaajpaa.”

Earlier in the day, Congress Lok Sabha MP KC Venugopal submitted a notice to oppose the introduction of the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024 in the Lok Sabha. Congress MP Mr Hibi Eden also gave notice to oppose the bill. The Samajwadi Party will also oppose the Waqf Bill in Parliament.
Notably, the BJP-led government is slated to introduce the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024 in the Lok Sabha on Thursday to amend the Waqf Act, 1995. The bill seeks to “effectively address issues” related to the powers of the State Waqf Boards, registration and survey of waqf properties and removal of encroachments. The Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024 is listed for introduction by Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju in Lok Sabha.

Congres MP K Suresh who is the party’s chief whip in the Lok Sabha said that the opposition is not in favour of the bill. Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) MP ET Muhammed Basheer said that the issue is serious as the government is attempting to capture the rights of the Waqf Board.
AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owais has given notice to oppose the amendments to the Waqf Act. In his motion filed before the Lok Sabha the AIMIM MP said the bill was against Freedom of Religion and in violation of the principle of non-discrimination.

“I oppose the introduction of the Bill under rule 72 (2) on the grounds that this house does not have the competence to make these amendments. The Bill patently violates the principles provided in Articles 14, 15 and 25. It is both discriminatory and arbitrary. Moreover, it is a grave attack on the basic structure of the Constitution as it violates the principle of judicial independence and separation of powers,” Owaisi said in his motion.
Apart from introducing the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, Kiren Rijiju will also introduce The Mussalman Wakf (Repeal) Bill, 2024 which seeks to repeal the Mussalman Wakf Act, 1923. The Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, Waqf Act provides for the renaming of the Waqf Act, 1995, as the Unified Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency and Development Act, 1995It seeks to clearly define “waqf” as waqf by any person practising Islam for at least five years and having ownership of such property and ensure that the creation of Waqf-alal-aulad does not lead to the denial of inheritance rights to women.

It also seeks to omit the provisions relating to the “waqf by user”, provide the functions of the Survey Commissioner to the Collector or any other officer not below the rank of Deputy Collector duly nominated by the Collector for the survey of waqf properties, provide for a broad-based composition of the Central Waqf Council and the State Waqf Boards and ensure representation of Muslim women and non-Muslims.

According to the statement of objects and reasons, the bill seeks to provide for the establishment of a separate Board of Auqaf for Boharas and Aghakhanis.
It provides for the representation of Shia, Sunni, Bohra, Agakhani and other backward classes among Muslim communities, streamlining the manner of registration of waqfs through a central portal and database and providing for a detailed procedure for mutation as per revenue laws with due notice to all concerned before recording any property as waqf property.

The bill seeks to omit section 40 relating to the powers of the Board to decide if a property is waqf property, provide for filing of accounts of waqf by mutawallis to the Board through a central portal for better control over their activities, reform the Tribunal structure with two members and provide for appeals against the orders of the Tribunal to the High Court within a specified period of ninety days.

</excerpt>

The one thing that stands out in this Parliament session is the role of the opposition. After nearly a decade of the Modi Government the opposition has finally found its voice. Whether it was the reply to the government on the President’s Address or on the budget the opposition has not been found wanting in its reaction. With Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav leading from the front, the TMC & AAP have played a stellar supporting role. The mood was set from the Speaker’s Election when both Rahul and Akhilesh congratulated the Speaker on his re-election but also cautioned against his playing a partisan role.
What is also commendable is the choice of issues raised. No longer is Rahul restricting his attack by harping endlessly about the Adani-Ambanis or the hold the RSS has on the government. Instead he is raising issues that the ‘aam-admi’ would like raised – from NEET exam, MSP to the Indexation rollback. Indeed the Modi Government has done itself no favours with this budget since it holds nothing but more taxes for the middle class. As a result, Rahul Gandhi whose politics until now were now aimed at the middle class has suddenly emerged as the next-best-alternative. Infact the Modi Government has gifted Rahul Gandhi a whole new constituency with this budget.

Geopolitics is something that has always caught Rahul Gandhi’s interest. He was one of the first to raise the threat from China in parliament as had other Congress leaders specially Manish Tewari. The latter has been taking on the government on some of its geostrategic moves and the collapse of Bangladesh only underlines the fact that the Modi Government needs to walk through its neighbourhood policy very carefully. In this it should take the opposition along for it has been a long stated practice for any Prime Minister to brief the Parliament about his trips abroad. This is not a practice Prime Minister Modi follows very keenly (for instance the House is still to be briefed about his Russia visit and why he chose Putin for his first bilateral with the Ukraine-Russia conflict looming large). However, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar did brief Rahul Gandhi on Bangladesh. This is also what is due to the Congress leader for Rahul is also the Leader of the Opposition. Both in terms of his individual politics and the position he wants to portray to the rest of the opposition it was a smart move for Rahul to take up the LoP position himself and not appoint any other Congress leader.

And so with the Monsoon session drawing to a close, both in terms of opposition politics and the spirit of democracy it was a refreshing sight to see debate back in Parliament..

</excerpt>

The Supreme Court’s recent verdict on the appointment of aldermen in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has sparked reactions from major political parties, while Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has criticized the BJP’s approach towards Muslims in Uttar Pradesh.

AAP and BJP React to Supreme Court Verdict

The Supreme Court upheld the Delhi lieutenant governor’s authority to appoint aldermen to the MCD without consulting the state cabinet. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh criticized the ruling, calling it “unfortunate” and a “big blow to democracy.” Singh argued that the decision contradicts democratic principles and the court’s earlier comments.

In response, the Delhi BJP accused AAP of consistently challenging the LG’s decisions and condemned Singh’s reaction as anarchistic. The Supreme Court clarified that the LG’s appointment of aldermen is a “statutory duty” not subject to the state cabinet’s advice.

Akhilesh Yadav Criticizes Yogi Adityanath

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav attacked Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath and the BJP’s stance on Muslims, labeling it as “undemocratic and unconstitutional.” Yadav suggested that a true ‘Yogi’ would respect the Constitution.

His comments were in response to the UP government’s actions in cases such as the Ayodhya gang rape, Hathras stampede, and Lucknow molestation incidents. Yadav defended his call for a DNA test in the Ayodhya case, stating it aligns with a 2023 law. He also condemned the BJP’s reported plans to amend the Waqf law, accusing them of undermining Muslim rights.

However, terrorism, anarchy, and hooliganism have ended in this region now,” Adityanath stated, as reported by news agency PTI.

Controversy Over Ayodhya Rape Case

The remarks come amidst a heated exchange between leaders of the Samajwadi Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the rape case of a minor girl in Ayodhya. On July 30, the police arrested Moid Khan, a bakery owner in Bhadarsa Nagar, Ayodhya district, and his employee, Raju Khan, in connection with the crime.

According to the police, Moid Khan and Raju Khan raped the girl two months ago and recorded the act. The incident came to light when the girl was discovered to be pregnant during a medical examination.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath alleged that Moid Khan is a member of the Samajwadi Party and part of Faizabad MP Awadhesh Prasad’s team. In the UP assembly, Adityanath stated, “This is a case of Ayodhya. Moid Khan is from SP and is a member of the Ayodhya MP’s team. He has been found involved in the rape of a 12-year-old girl. The Samajwadi Party has not taken any action against him.”

Adityanath visited the girl’s family last week to offer support.

Demolition and Legal Action

On Saturday, the Ayodhya district administration demolished Khan’s bakery, which was illegally constructed over a pond, according to District Magistrate Chandra Vijay Singh.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak stated on Sunday that the perpetrators of the Ayodhya rape case would face severe punishment, serving as a deterrent for future generations. Criticizing the Samajwadi Party, Pathak accused it of having hooliganism and anarchy ingrained in its DNA. In response, the Samajwadi Party called for DNA testing of the accused.

This exchange highlights the ongoing political tensions in Uttar Pradesh as parties vie for control and influence in the state.

</excerpt>

On Sunday, Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav called on the court to ensure the safety of the Ayodhya rape victim, highlighting the sensitivity and gravity of the case. In a post on X, Akhilesh emphasized the need for the government to provide the best medical care for the victim and ensure her protection. He urged the Honorable Court to take suo motu cognizance of the situation and oversee the victim’s safety given the serious nature of the case.

Akhilesh also criticized attempts to politicize such incidents, asserting that these efforts should not succeed. He supported Faizabad MP Awadhesh Prasad’s call for DNA testing in the case involving the gang rape of a minor girl. Akhilesh stated that DNA tests on the accused are essential for delivering justice, emphasizing that justice should not be served through allegations or political maneuvering. He insisted that if the DNA tests confirm guilt, the perpetrators should be fully punished, but if proven false, the government officials involved should also face consequences.

Earlier, the Ayodhya district administration had taken action against Samajwadi Party leader Moeed Khan, the primary suspect in the rape case, by demolishing his “illegally constructed” bakery. SDM Ashok Kumar reported that the bakery was sealed and demolished after it was found to be illegal. Additionally, a boundary wall built on a pond was also deemed illegal and demolished.

This action followed allegations that Khan and his house help had raped and blackmailed a 12-year-old girl who worked as a daily wage laborer at Khan’s home. Khan was arrested on Thursday for raping the girl over a period of two months and for allegedly threatening the victim’s family to settle the case.

The channel, known for its engaging discussions on politics and art, delves into the intersections of history, politics, and culture through interviews and analyses. It also explores how art reflects and shapes societal understanding.

In the book “The Contenders,” the author shares insights into why the title was chosen. With the help of Aishwarya and Karthik, they identified true contenders in politics. Published in 2019, the book focuses on leaders in their mid-40s to early 50s, highlighting their potential to lead India.

Watch:

The Contenders

Key political figures discussed include Akhilesh Yadav, who, unlike other dynasts, had to fight for his legacy against his father, Mulayam Singh Yadav. This struggle led to significant modernization efforts within his party. The book also examines Yogi Adityanath’s tenure as Chief Minister, marked by strict law and order reforms and a strong Hindutva stance.

Himanta Biswa Sarma’s political journey from Congress to becoming the Chief Minister of Assam under BJP is highlighted, emphasizing his insider knowledge and ambition. The Gandhi siblings, Rahul and Priyanka, are analyzed for their contrasting political styles, with Priyanka’s instinctive approach and Rahul’s calculated strategies.

Arvind Kejriwal’s shift from a strong national contender to focusing on Delhi amid legal troubles is also discussed. The book provides a comprehensive understanding of the evolving political landscape in India through meticulous research and personal insights.

</excerpt>

While Rahul Gandhi is the Leader of the Opposition by virtue of being the single largest party in opposition one cannot discount the role played by Samajwadi Party Chief, Akhilesh Yadav. Not only is the Samajwadi Party the third largest party in Parliament today after the BJP & the Congress (with 37 MPs), the genial Akhilesh is also proving to be the glue that is cementing the anti-BJP parties together. Take for example the fact that he was the only leader from the INDIA bloc who was invited to attend the Martyr’s Day Rally in Kolkata last week organised by the West Bengal CM and TMC Chief Mamata Banerjee. Speaking at the rally, TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee claimed that it was the SP & the TMC who were the two principal architects of the BJP’s defeat. Noticeably he did not mention the Congress and neither was any Congress leader present at the rally.

Later, when the non NDA regional parties staged a protest against the BJP in the capital, Akhilesh Yadav was present at Jantar Mantar in response to a special invite by Jagan Mohan Reddy, the former CM of Andhra Pradesh. Again, the Congress did not make the guest list.
But if there is one leader who is standing by Rahul’s side within Parliament it is Akhilesh Yadav. The two UP ke Ladke are leading a united fight against the Modi led government, whether it is on the budget, farmers’ rights, NEET exam or Agniveer. While Rahul’s speeches have a pithy punch, Akhilesh’s knock-out blows are delivered with a rhetorical finesse and his trademark smile.

More importantly however is the strategic impact Akhilesh has had on the INDIA bloc and the role he played in halting the BJP in Uttar Pradesh. Had the Samajwadi Party not got 37 seats in the Hindi heartland, the BJP would have crossed the 272 mark and notched a much more face-saving number. The fact that Ayodhya was one of the seats that the SP won only added the icing to the cake. While the Congress is now talking about a caste census and politics of mandal, it was the Samajwadi Party that is the torch bearer of this thought.
It is a thought that the perceptive Samajwadi Chief has reinvented with the times when he came up with the PDA alliance. This is an umbrella coalition of Pichde (backwards), Dalits & Alpsankhyak (minorities). He went on to distribute tickets accordingly, giving only 5 tickets to the Yadavs, a caste that earlier took a large chunk of the ticket distribution. An amused Delhi media pulled his leg and reminded him that PDA stood for Public Display of Affection. And if the results are anything to go by, Uttar Pradesh ki Junta has responded to the SP Chief with a very public display of affection giving him the largest number of seats won by the party since its inception. But whenever the Congress talks about caste, it lacks the credibility of the Samajwadi Party. When Rahul brandished a picture of Finance Ministry officials partaking in the traditional halwa ceremony on Budget Day and asked – How many Dalits & OBCs do you see in this picture, the BJP was quick to dig up a picture of former finance minister & Congress leader P Chidambaram participating in a similar ceremony on Budget day and asked – how many Dalits and OBCs do you see in this photograph? Unlike Rahul, the Samajwadi Party leader has walked his talk.
But, just when the BJP thought it had figured out Akhilesh’s gameplan, he appointed a Brahimin – the veteran Mata Prasad Pandey as the Leader of Opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly. The message that he is sending out is a much more inclusive one than the PM’s slogan of Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas. Incidentally he has also recently appointed Lal Behari Yadav as the leader of Opposition in the legislative council.

Again, when Rahul balked at contesting from Uttar Pradesh, it was Akhilesh who pushed him to do so, pointing out that the Samajwadi Party had a large chunk of MLAs in the constituency. With the SP’s support, the Congress won both Amethi and Rae Bareli.
While Akhilesh Yadav’s goal may be the 2027 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, for as he says we have learnt how to defeat the BJP, there are no state limits for a man with a gameplan. Rahul Gandhi is certainly the face of Opposition, but Akhilesh Yadav is its heart & soul.

Today, it was said in Parliament that those whose caste is not known talk about a caste census,” Priyanka said in a Hindi post on X. She questioned if 80% of India’s population would be abused in Parliament and asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to clarify the situation.

Pawan Khera’s Statement:
Congress’s media and publicity department head Pawan Khera declared that the caste of Rahul Gandhi’s family is “martyrdom.” He criticized the BJP’s mindset, stating, “This mindset can only be of the BJP that such abuses are used for a person who is the son of a family of martyrs. He is told that your caste is not known. We will tell you what his caste is. Rahul Gandhi’s father is a martyr and this family’s caste is martyrdom. This the RSS, the BJP, and Thakur can never understand.”

Rahul Gandhi’s Response:
Rahul Gandhi claimed he was insulted and abused by Thakur. “Whoever raises the issues of Adivasi, Dalit, and the backward, is abused. I will happily accept these abuses…Anurag Thakur has abused me and insulted me. But I do not want any apology from him,” Rahul Gandhi said.

Anurag Thakur’s Original Remark:
Earlier, Thakur said, “Those whose caste is not known, talk about the caste census. I want to remind the Speaker that in this House itself, a former prime minister RG-1 (Rajiv Gandhi) had opposed reservation for OBCs.”

Support from Akhilesh Yadav:
Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav, an ally of Rahul Gandhi, also criticized Thakur, questioning how he could ask about Rahul Gandhi’s caste.

Akhilesh Yadav said, “Alot of things are going on in the parliament right now (as a lot of issues are being picked up against the BJP) and therefore a lot of political parties become uncomfortable after they hear about PDA strategy. Recently when we gave a role of LoP in the assembly to person who comes from underrepresented community, the most uncomfortable party was the BJP. Moreover, had they worked for the people, the BJP would not have lost the elections with such a huge number, although Modi has won but going by the votes, he has lost.”

He also talked about how the caste census is going to uplift the underrepresented people, “If we see today, Congress who were against the caste census are today with caste census and it is going to benefit all the backward people and minorities. We gave the representation to PDA and therefore the BJP lost it.” He added, “We have made an effort to bring the people from PDA community together and that’s what we are going to focus on, help them grow.”

Asked whether they had marked out a particular strategy before elections, Akhilesh said, “We had no strategy, we were clear about our work and how we are going to tell people how BJP has failed and when Congress came together with us we got a national narrative and were able to fight together. The good thing is, both top leaders were seen together, we coordinated well about which I thankful to all the rank and file.”

The good thing is, both the top leaders (Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav) were seen together, we coordinated well about which I thankful to all the rank and file who gelled up with Congress. Since we have worked with a lot of parties before that experience helped us work out a better deal with Congress in the elections.”
Akhilesh also said, “When people asked us about how we can be with TMC in Bengal and also with Congress at the same time, we said that the relationship we had with one party, we are going to carry on with that and also the new formation we have formed we are going to respect that as well. That’s how Samajwadis work and thus there was no rebellion from anywhere.”

Akhilesh further added, “We should know that the parties who come to helm the government do not stay, they come and go. And at times, there is a lot of injustice that happens during their governance, I want to make it known that wherever there is going to be injustice the Samajwadi party is going to support them.”

He also talked about how he started off his career from Delhi. Akhilesh said, “From a long time I am in Delhi, I started with Delhi, the first time I contested Lok Sabha elections was in 2000. On the other hand Uttar Pradesh is a big state and its politics is different. Recently UP politics had gained pace and now after some time it will again gain pace (refering to the rumours of replacement of Yogi Adityanatg).
