‘Raid 2’ Trailer: Ajay Devgn Enters the Lion’s Den — But Can He Take Down Riteish Deshmukh?

The wait is finally over! The long-awaited trailer of Raid 2 has been released, and it’s an engrossing mix of action, drama, and fierce face-offs. With Ajay Devgn returning in his authoritative role as Income Tax officer Amay Patnaik, the sequel raises the stakes, paving the way for a bitter confrontation with Riteish Deshmukh’s new villainous persona.

Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, Raid 2 capitalizes on the huge success of the first installment and returns with the same signature intensity of the original but ups the ante with new characters and a darker, richer plot. The trailer doesn’t waste any time in setting up the central conflict—Devgn’s unyielding lawman against Deshmukh’s affable but crooked politician, Dadabhai.

The visuals are chock-full of intensity, featuring exciting tax raids, political confrontations, and tearful confrontations. Devgn’s unflappable but authoritative screen presence as Patnaik is again to the fore, while Riteish Deshmukh has a surprise and menacing turn as a menacing villain, a welcome departure from his comic turn as a force to be reckoned with.

Raid 2: “The Wait is Over”

“The wait is over – justice has a new battleground!” proclaims the trailer tagline.

“Raid 2” whets “the anticipation of an engrossing tale between the two actors; full of action and suspense, it leaves fans wanting more.”

Riteish plays the role of power-seeking political leader Dadabhai, exuding charm and ulterior motive along with calculated malice. His performance as the character is all set to be one of the biggest plusses of the film. The interaction and tension between the two leading actors suggest the promise of an edge-of-your-seat experience for viewers.

Directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, Raid 2 is a presentation of Panorama Studios and Gulshan Kumar, and T-Series. The movie is releasing on a grand note on May 1, 2025.

Bollywood actors Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff have landed in legal trouble for endorsing Vimal Pan Masala. The Jaipur district consumer disputes redressal forum has sent them notices, along with the chairman of JB Industries, which manufactures Vimal Gutkha. They must appear before the forum on March 19.

Consumer Forum Issues Notice

Jaipur resident Yogendra Singh Badiyal filed the complaint, alleging that the advertisement misleads consumers. The ad claims that each grain of pan masala contains saffron. It features the tagline: “Dane dane mein hai kesar ka dum” (Each grain has the strength of saffron). Consumer forum chairperson Gyarsilal Meena and member Hemlata Agarwal issued the notice after reviewing the complaint.

Allegations of False Advertising

The petitioner pointed out that saffron costs around ₹4 lakh per kg, while a pan masala pouch with tobacco costs only ₹5. He argued that the product cannot possibly contain real saffron, not even its fragrance. He accused the brand of misleading people to increase sales.

Accusations Against Actors and Manufacturer

The complaint alleges that the actors are spreading false claims about saffron in the product. It also states that JB Industries profits while consumers risk serious health issues like cancer. The petitioner accused the company of deliberately misleading the public through deceptive advertising.

Legal Action Awaits

With the hearing set for March 19, all eyes are on how the actors and the company respond to the allegations.

Aaman Devgn and Rasha Thadani are geared to launch in mainstream action drama film ‘Azaad’, starring Ajay Devgn. By recently released teasers, fans seem to be loving this movie too.

Ajay Devgn compared himself with loyalty horse Maharana Pratap for making the right time of campaigning for his movie as co-actor, Aaman and Rasha were quite busy doing their campaigning work together. He said, “In every battle, every valorous warrior has a loyal horse by his side,” and urged viewers to “witness the adventure on big screens this January 2025.” The teaser begins with a woman speaking as if she is talking to herself, narrating the tale of a faithful horse and sets the foundational ground of the story. The film has Diana Penty alongside Ajay, Aaman, and Rasha. Describing Azaad as “a story of friendship, loyalty, and freedom”, the teaser’s release was going to start this Diwali; the movie, he informed, is due for a January 2025 release. There’s a hero on horseback, surrounded by people holding raised hands, to give one the feel that it is a journey like no other in the cinematic epic of old.

Directed by Abhishek Kapoor, who has earlier directed films like Kai Po Che, Kedarnath, Rock On!!, and Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, Azaad is produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Pragya Kapoor, promising a grand cinematic debut in early 2025.

Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn also had Singham Again doing well. According to Sacnilk.com, Singham Again on its first Monday collected ₹17.5 crore; the decline being due to the usual fall in sales after the weekend. It collected ₹43.5 crore on the opening day, ₹42.5 crore on Saturday, and ₹35.75 crore on Sunday, with the total amounting to ₹137.99 crore. Hindi shows stood at 29.64% occupancy for Monday.

Singham Again is the sequel of Singham, where Bajirao Singham pursues his wife, Avni Kamat, after being kidnapped by the main villain Danger Lanka. In the process, Salman Khan does a cameo as Chulbul Pandey, and so the Cop Universe continues under Shetty.

Ajay Devgn’s 2019 hit De De Pyaar De is set for a sequel, and fans are eagerly anticipating its release. While Rakul Preet Singh will reprise her role, Tabu will not be returning, and R Madhavan is joining the cast. ‘Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’ Review: Ajay Devgn, Tabu’s Film Is A Mess

Ajay Devgn’s ‘Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’ had the potential to be a heartbreaking tale about love and separation. It, however, ends up being one of the weakest films of the actor’s storeyed career.

‘Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’ centres on Krishna (Ajay/Shantanu Maheshwari), a simpleton with big dreams who hits a sweet spot in life after facing several hardships. He earns the opportunity to visit Germany for a work-related assignment. Moreover. He is in a steady relationship with Vasudha (Tabu/Saiee Manjrekar), His life, however, is turned upside down following a shocking incident. Many years later, after completing a prison sentence, he returns to the “outside world” to reunite with Vasudha. The rest of the story revolves around their past and their attempts to move on.

‘Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’ has pretty much everything that one expects from a romantic-thriller right from a top-notch cast to an intriguing premise. It, however, fails to make any impact because of the bland screenplay. Neeraj Pandey, who has previously written well-received flicks such as ‘Baby’ and ‘MS Dhoni’, fails to deliver with his latest offering. ‘Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’ begins with a sequence set in a prison through which the director tries to build an aura around Ajay’s character. Sadly, the scene lacks the organic intensity needed to enthrall the audience.

As a result, it feels forced and staged. ‘Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’ goes further downhill from here as the makers struggle to flesh out the characters. The flashback sequences feel rushed and generic. Saiee and Shantanu’s underwhelming chemistry further dilutes the impact of these scenes, making it virtually impossible for one to take an interest in the characters and their journeys.

‘ Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’ picks up once Jimmy Sheirgill, who plays Vasudha’s husband Abhijeet, enters the scene. However, this too eventually counts for nothing as the makers are unable to explore his backstory. As a result, the character comes across as one-dimensional.

His scenes with Ajay are mildly engaging but would have worked better had the world-building been upto the mark.

Tabu and Ajay’s scenes too have potential but fall flat as, unlike in the yesteryear classic ‘Aandhi’, their silences do not talk.

Coming to the performances, Ajay Devgn tries to rise about the poor script but the director doesn’t really really give him a chance to internalise the character, which is a real shame given his abilities. The same applies to Tabu’s performance as well. Saiee and Shantanu put their best foot forward but clearly deserved better.

It is, however, Jimmy who gets the weakest and most forgettable character of the lot. He tries his level best to channelise his character’s insecurities but the writing just doesn’t let him do tha.

The music, composed by MM Kreem, is one of the film’s biggest highlights. However, none of the songs have a long shelf-life. There are a few action scenes but they pale in comparison to what Ajay has done in his previous films.

To conclude, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha is a forgettable attempt at storytelling with no redeeming qualities.

The second half of 2024 brings many changes to Bollywood movie release dates. Some popular sequels, like Singham Again and Stree 2, have new dates. These changes affect big holidays like Independence Day and Diwali.

Independence Day Clash

Three big movies were set to release on August 15:

‘Vedaa’- An action drama by Nikkhil Advani, starring John Abraham.
‘Pushpa: The Rule’ – A Telugu action drama by Sukumar, featuring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil.
‘Singham Again’ – A cop drama by Rohit Shetty, with Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, and others.

Recently, another movie joined the Independence Day list:
4. “Khel Khel Mein” – A buddy comedy by Mudassar Aziz, starring Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Vaani Kapoor, and Fardeen Khan.

There are rumors that “Pushpa: The Rule” might be delayed, but there is no official confirmation yet. Ajay Devgn confirmed that “Singham Again” needs more time and will not be ready for August 15. Rohit Shetty later announced that “Singham Again” will now release on Diwali instead.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 – A horror comedy by Anees Bazmee, starring Kartik Aaryan and Vidya Balan. Triptii Dimri will replace Kiara Advani as the leading lady. PM Modi is set to begin his third consecutive term as Prime Minister, following the BJP-led NDA’s victory with 293 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha. He becomes the second Indian leader, after Jawaharlal Nehru, to achieve this feat.

Alongside Modi, his council of ministers will also be sworn in this evening. In preparation for the event, posters featuring the PM-designate have been displayed across Delhi, and approximately 1,100 traffic police personnel have been deployed to manage traffic movement.

The Film will reportedly start from the mid-credit scene in which the lead Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet were arguing over whether or not they should meet the latter’s family. And from that onwards, the following events involving Rakul Preet’s family will reportedly take place.

As per the source familiar to the development revealed to pinkvilla, that Luv Ranjan has reportedly enlisted Anil Kapoor for the significant role in the sequel. “Anil was bowled over by the concept of DDPD 2 and it was an instant yes from him. The humor quotient in De De Pyaar De 2 is said to be a level above the prequel, with an interesting dynamic between Ajay Devgn and Anil Kapoor,”. According to the buzz, he will reportedly play the father of Rakul Preet in the film.

The source further shared that the dynamics between Ajay Devgn and Anil Kapoor will be a major feature of the film. “It’s a dynamic that got both excited as they have never shared an on-screen equation like this before. Legal Battle Erupts Over Ajay Devgn’s ‘Maidaan’ Premiere Amid Plagiarism Allegations

As Ajay Devgn’s ‘Maidaan’ premiered today, the film’s producers became embroiled in a legal battle. The Mysore court issued a ‘stay order’ on the release following plagiarism accusations by Karnataka-based scriptwriter Anil Kumar. Kumar alleges that after sharing his script with an assistant director of ‘Maidaan’, no further progress was made. The film narrates the triumph of coach SA Rahim and his team at the 1962 Asian Games.

On his LinkedIn profile, Kumar disclosed that he began crafting his film’s story in 2010. By 2018, he had publicized a poster and connected with assistant director Sukhdas Suryavanshi via LinkedIn. Suryavanshi summoned him to Mumbai for the script. Kumar asserts he has chat records as evidence. Despite promises, he was unable to meet Aamir Khan for unspecified reasons. Subsequently, Kumar handed over the story and secured it with the Screen Writers Association.

He stated, “Recently, I heard that a movie named Maidaan is getting released. I was surprised because even I have the same story. When I looked at the teaser and their statements, I got to know that it was my story. They have twisted the main story itself and made this movie. I named the story Paadakanduka.”

Boney Kapoor’s Bayview Projects LLP released a statement, which stated, “Dear all, we have just been served the copy of the Order of the District Judge restraining the release of the film. At the outset, we would like to place on record that the said order passed by the District Judge is an ex-parte order, without giving us an opportunity of being heard.”

The makers stated that they did not receive any notice prior to the lawsuit being filed or heard. Additionally, they observed that the order was issued post the film’s release, rendering it legally void in terms of halting the release. They intend to challenge the order in the Karnataka High Court and pursue immediate relief.

‘Maidaan’ day1 box office collection prediction: Ajay Devgn’s sports drama to open lower than Shaitaan

The Ajay Devgn starrer ‘Maidaan’ is set to hit screens on April 11. According to Ramesh Bala, an Industry tracker, the film is expected to collect between Rs 7 crore and Rs 10 crore on its first day in India.

“Probably 7-10 crores day 1 nett in India. 7-10 crores is my expectation” Bala told The Daily Guardian.

If these estimates hold, it will fail to beat Shaitaan. The Vikas Behl film collected nearly Rs 15 crore on the first day.

Despite this, Maidaan has the potential to resonate with a class as well as a mass audience in the long run.

“See basically, its target audience are people interested in sports and drama. It will reach the wider audience. You know both mass and class, strictly urban and rural,” he said.

Ramesh Bala further said the fact that Bade Miyan Chote Miyan is releasing on the same day might have an adverse impact on Maidaan, at least initially.

“But since ‘bade miyan’ (Bade Miyan Chote Miyan) is also releasing on the same day, we have to see how the audience is going to turn up. Probably they will turn up slowly being a sports genre,” he added.

According to the tracker, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan will have the upper hand because it is a multistatter and features mass elements. This should help it put up better numbers on the first day. He added that there is a competition between the films for screen sharing as well.

“Basically both of them are going to share screens, both multiplexes and single screens. Solo release means it would have gotten more screens and more shows so it would have done more. But in a competition of the multi-starrer kind of typical all-friendly genre, basically let me a take a bigger opening and let me attract more audience. In the long run, eventually both can do well. But just on the Day 1, since the audiences like mass action and songs and dance it is a competition” he said.

The situation, however, might change once the word-of-mouth comes into play as positive reviews could help Maidaan pick up in the long run.

“It not being a solo release and with a competition which is a whole mass-friendly genre, so it(Bade Miyan Chote Miyan) will have an impact till the five day, but hopefully, it (Maidaan) can compensate in the later dates,” he added.

‘Maidaan’ is an biographical sports drama film directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma and written by Akash Chawla, Sidhant Mago and Saiwyn Quadras. It stars Ajay Devgn as Syed Abdul Rahim who was Indian football coach and manager of the Indian national team and is regarded as the architect of modern Indian football. Based on a true story, ‘Maidaan’ is directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma and stars Ajay Devgn in the role of Syed Abdul Rahim, a man who dedicated his life to football, bringing great pride to India. Alongside Ajay, the film features Priyamani, Gajraj Rao, and Bengali actor Rudranil Ghosh in key roles.

“So, that break was easy because Ajay was there for me. I didn’t have to struggle to get my first film because before that already that 15 years or 14 years of hard work had gone,” Rohit shared.

Ajay Devgn’s ‘Shaitaan’, which hit screens on March 8, opened to a good response at the box office and collected nearly Rs 54 crore (nett) at the Indian box office in the first three days. The film also received favourable reviews with critics lauding the performances and haunting storyline.

‘Shaitaan’ witnessed a noticeable drop in collections on its first Monday. March 11, as is the case with most releases. The final figure, however, is still likely to be quite respectable.

According to Akshaye Rathi, an exhibitor, the day 4 collection will be around Rs 6 crore.

“Shaitaan was quite stable on Monday. The word of mouth is good and the performances have been appreciated. Monday’s collection should be around 6 crore, a good figure given the fact that it is a working day. Despite his limited knowledge of supernatural thrillers, Vikas Bahl took on the directorial role for “Shaitaan,” featuring Ajay Devgn, Jyotika, and R Madhavan. Explaining his decision to lead the film, Vikas shared, “I don’t really watch supernatural thrillers or horror movies, so my knowledge of that genre as a viewer is very little. But when I heard the story of Shaitaan, I totally loved it, and I felt that this story really had to be told. At the same time, it was so challenging for me to tell a story in a genre that I am a novice in. So, I thought, let me take up this challenge and see where it goes. And I must say, it’s been a great experience working on Shaitaan and creating it.”

Before starting the shoot, Vikas conducted extensive research to familiarize himself with the genre. “Like I said, I don’t really watch this genre, and I never thought I would be venturing into it. So, actually, like a school kid, we used to sit and watch videos, read, and watch other films. The whole team would sit in a room, and we would actually try to study. It was almost like going back to school, trying to understand how these films are made, how the camera works, how the action works, how scenes work, and how emotions work. So, I told my team, ‘Let’s all sit, learn, and be sure that we know how to pull this off.’ Going back to school and feeling nervous before we hit the floor was a really good experience, and I wish I could do it again and again, in new genres, in new films, and always be challenged to see how I can pull them off,” Vikas shared.

‘Shaitaan’ box office prediction: Ajay Devgn film to take a double digit opening

According to Akshaye Rathi, an exhibitor, these factors should help it secure a good start at the box office. However, its fate will eventually depend on the word-of-mouth response and the content itself.

“I have high expectations from Shaitaan. It is purely theatrical offering and has a top-notch cast headlined by Ajay Devgn. I think, the first day collection should at least be around Rs 10 crore. The only thing that can go against it is the content itself. If the content isn’t good, there could be a problem but I don’t think that will happen,” he told ‘The Daily Guardian’

Given the genre, the horror-thriller is unlikely to appeal to children. Rathi, however, feels this is not a major issue.

”Children won’t come for Shaitaan but then in India we have enough people who watch cinema. It will cater to the masses and the urban audience,” he said

‘Shaitaan’ features R Madhavan and Jyotika, who are popular names in Tamil cinema, in key roles. However, their association with the film is unlikely to help it in Tamil Nadu.

“See this a medium-budget Bollywood film with no dubbed version. I am not expecting anything great from it. The first day collection is expected to be around Rs 10 lakh in the best case. It will get some patronage in the urban areas,” trade analyst Ramesh Bala told The Daily Guardian.

‘Shaitaan’, starring Ajay Devgn and R Madhavan, is scheduled to open in theatres on March 8. It holds the distinction of being one of the few ‘pure horror’ films made in Bollywood with an A-list cast.

Noticeably, over the years most of the major Bollywood actors have not picked a film with horror as the main element. ’ The horror aspect is often mixed with other genres to be able to cater to a wider audience. According to Ramesh Bala, a trade tracker, a pure horror family often appeals to a niche audience only.

“Bollywood and Tollywood movies are usually made to cover a wide range of audiences. Genres such as Action, Comedy, and Drama have a larger audience base rather than pure horror films which are often made and enjoyed by a very specific audience,” he told ‘The Daily Guardian’

He added that most Bollywood stars stay away from the horror genre as its focus is more on the antagonist.

“The main focus of any horror film remains to be the antagonist. This casts a shadow on the main lead sometimes which could be the possible reason that none of the major Bollywood actors seems to be that interested in doing horror films,” said Ramesh Bala.

Talking about ‘Shaitaan’, he said that it has the potential to rejuvenate the horror genre in Bollywood.

“The trailer of Shaitaan looks very promising and already has very good word-of-mouth. Ajay Devgn, R. Madhavan, and Jyotika are very good performers. So, yes the film shows a great deal of potential in bringing horror films into the light, and hopefully, mainstream actors such as ‘Laxmi’ fame Akshay Kumar would be seen pursuing such projects. Shaitaan might refresh Bollywood and could become a blockbuster, as per the word of mouth”

Talking about the horror genre in India, exhibitor Akshaye Rathi said it is ‘unfortunate’ that A-list names avoid such films as they are theatrical in nature.

, “I find it very strange and unfortunate that none of the A-listers participate in the supernatural and horror genre because I think this specific genre of movies is very theatrical in nature and can easily bring a lot of footfall if done the right way. We have seen such movies getting praised in the West. We have seen blockbuster results.”

He, however, added that ‘Shaitaan’ has the potential to change the situation as it features ‘prominent actors’ in the lead.

“Ajay Devgn himself has done ‘Bhoot’, Aamir Khan’s ‘Talaash’ was one of the major hits of Bollywood in terms of the supernatural genre. It would be great if more prominent actors and filmmakers took the supernatural genre to a new level and participated in making more such films. As far as ‘Shaitaan’ is considered, Ajay Devgn, Jyotika, and R Madhavan are not only great actors but phenomenal performers, I am sure the film will be terrific.”

‘Shaitaan’, directed by Vikas Behl, is set to hit screens on March 8.

The much-awaited teaser for “Shaitaan,” the supernatural thriller based on black magic starring Ajay Devgn, R Madhavan, and Jyotika, was finally released by the film’s creators. Ajay posted a fascinating teaser video on Instagram.

While the teaser takes you into the world of Shaitaan, R Madhavan’s sinister smile at the end will surely give the chills.
Sharing the video, he wrote, “Woh poochega tumse… ek khel hai, kheloge? Par uske behkaave mein mat aana!#ShaitaanTeaser out now! Taking over cinemas on 8th March, 2024.”
As soon as the teaser was released, fans and industry members flooded the comment section.

Bollywood star Ajay Devgn has kicked off the shooting for the much-anticipated sequel, Raid 2. Known for his portrayal of fearless IRS officer Amay Patnaik in the original Raid (2018), Ajay Devgn is set to reprise his role in the upcoming film. The announcement of the commencement of shooting was made by renowned Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh on Instagram.

Raid 2, directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, is scheduled for release on November 15, 2024. The film’s production is a collaborative effort involving Bhushan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak, Abhishek Pathak, and Krishan Kumar. The shooting locations for the sequel include Delhi, Mumbai, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan.

Sharing the title poster of Raid 2, Taran Adarsh wrote, “Ajay Devgn: Raid 2 stars today… 15 November 2024 release… IRS Officer Amay Patnaik is back… Ajay Devgn reunites with director Raj Kumar Gupta for Raid 2, the sequel to Raid [2018]. The film commences shoot in Mumbai today and will be extensively shot in Mumbai, Delhi, UP and Rajasthan.”

In the original Raid, Ajay Devgn shared the screen with Ileana D’Cruz, Gayathiri Iyer, and Saurabh Shukla. Raid 2 is not the only sequel on Ajay Devgn’s plate, as the third installment of the Singham franchise is also set to hit theaters this year.
