Adipurush Dialogue Writer Manoj Muntashir Issues Unconditional Apology For Hurting People’s Emotions

‘Adipurush’ writer Manoj Muntashir, on Saturday, apologised to people for hurting their religious sentiments with his controversial dialogues of the much-talked-about film.

Taking to Twitter, Manoj wrote, “I accept people’s emotions have been hurt by Adipurush. With folded hands, I extend my unconditional apologies. May Prabhu Bajrang Bali keep us united and grant us strength to serve our sacred Sanatan and our great nation.”

His post evoked mixed reactions from netizens as many feel that it is now too late to seek an apology.

“You are too late to apologise,” a social media user commented. “Badi jaldi Maafi maang liye sahab But thik hai, Der aaye durust aaye,” another one wrote.

Directed by Om Raut, ‘Adipurush’, which is an adaptation of the epic Ramayana, has drawn heavy criticism post-release. The film stars Prabhas as Lord Ram, Kriti as Goddess Sita, Sunny Singh as Laxman, and Saif Ali Khan as Ravana.

From critics to reviewers, many expressed disappointment over certain dialogues in the film. Among the dialogues over which the makers have drawn flak are ‘Marega Bete’, ‘Bua Ka Bagicha Hain Kya’, and ‘Jalegi Tere Baap Ki’.

In the wake of such flak, the makers of ‘Adipurush’ revamped the dialogues.

Amid the row, Manoj had requested protection, citing a threat to his life. Mumbai Police has provided him security and said that they are investigating the matter.

All India Cine Workers Association also wrote a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Mumbai Police, demanding the registration of a case against the producer, director, and writer of the film.

In fact, the criticism and controversy surrounding Adipurush brought the 1987 Ramayan back to the small screen as disappointed audiences compared the film to the hit show.

Allahabad High Court Slams The Makers Of Adipurush

Adipurush was released on June 16 and since then it has been facing legal issues and protests across the country. On Tuesday, the Allahabad High Court slammed the makers over its ‘questionable and distasteful’ dialogues. It also issued a notice to writer Manoj Muntashir, demanding an explanation within a week’s time.

According to Free Press Journal, the Allahabad High Court said, “Ramayana is a paragon for us. People read Ramcharitmanas before leaving home.” It also observed that the makers of Adipurush believed that the audience will be convinced by the narrative of the film. The court asked, “Hindus are tolerant but why they are tested every time? When Hindus are civilised, is it correct to suppress them?”

Further, the court said, “It’s good that people did not harm the law and order situation after watching the film. Lord Hanuman and Sita have been shown like they are nothing. These things should have been removed from the very beginning. Some scenes seem to be of A (adult) category. It’s very difficult to watch such films.”

The defense on the other hand pointed out that the Adipurush makers put a disclaimer was added in the beginning to rule out any concerns. The Allahabad High Court dismissed and stated, “Do the people who put the disclaimer consider the countrymen and youth, to be brainless? You show Lord Rama, Lord Laxman, Lord Hanuman, Ravana, Lanka and then say it is not Ramayana? We saw it on the news that people went to the theatres and got the film shut down. Be thankful nobody vandalised it.”

Nepal Court Lifts Ban On Adipurush But Kathmandu Mayor Vows To Defy Order

On Thursday, Nepal court lifted the ban on Kriti Sanon and Prabhas starrer Adipurush. However, the Mayor of Kathmandu has vowed to defy order. The Nepal court lifted the ban on all Hindi films, and the list includes Om Raut’s directorial Adipurush too. It has requested the authorities to not halt any screening of films that have been passed by the censor board of the country. But, Kathmandu Mayor is against the screening of Adipurush because of a dialogue that states Sita as ‘India’s daughter’.

Expressing his disagreement, Kathmandu Mayor Balendra Shah shared a Facebook post which reads: “The film’s writer said that Nepal was under India, this clearly shows India’s ill intention. To term this as a stunt by the Nepal government and to issue an order by the court in favour of screening the movie means, to accept that Nepal was once under India’s rule, the court and the government are both the slaves of India.”

Patan Hight Court judge Dhir Bahadur Chand stated that the screening of films that have permission from the censor board should not be stopped. While, the President of the Nepal Motion Picture Association, Bhaskar Dhungana informed the media that they will screen all films after a permission from the censor board. He said: “Now we will screen all movies passed by the censor board.” For the unversed, the Nepal court banned Adipurush along with other Hindi films. Om Raut’s Adipurush was released in theatres on June 16, and it has been receiving criticism from all quarters. Recently, the 1987 TV Show Ramayan Actor Sunil Lahri also is not happy with the film. He is ‘shocked’ and ‘disappointed’ after watching the film.

The actor spoke to Indian Express and shared his reaction. He said, “I really cannot understand who were they catering to. Na narration, na story na characterisation. Sab kuch haywire hai. Different dikhane ke naam pe satyanash kar diya.” Further, the actor spoke about the characters in Adipurush.

On Sunday evening, Nepali capital Kathmandu’s Mayor Balendra Shah enforced a ban on Indian movies following the ‘Adipurush’ dialogue controversy. In less than an hour of the KMC Mayor’s decision, the Pokhara Mayor Dhanraj Acharya also sent letters to three movie theatres to halt the screening of all Indian movies starting Monday morning.

With orders from the mayors of both Metropolitan cities, the halls in both places have taken off the screening of Indian movies from their schedule and replaced them with Hollywood and Nepali movies.

Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah on Sunday shared an official announcement on social media and revealed that all Indian movies including Prabhas starrer Adipurush have been banned. Balen Shah threatened to ban Indian films in Kathmandu owing to the incorrect reference to Sita’s birthplace in the film. He expressed disappointment with the dialogue ‘Janaki is a daughter of India’ and said that she was born in Nepal. Also, he shared a note written in Nepali.

The film was released in theatres on June 16 and since then it has been hitting headlines for all the wrong reasons. Social media users have been criticizing the film for its poor YFX and dialogues.

On Sunday, writer Manoj Muntashir revealed that he and Om Raut will make changes in Adipurush and revise the dialogues that have hurt sentiments. A part of his note read, “I and the producer-director of the film have decided that some of the dialogue which are hurting you, we’ll revise them, and they’ll be added to the film this week. May Shri Ram bless you all.”

Meanwhile, the film had another big day at the box office yesterday, as it collected Rs. 69 crores on Sunday, to finish its weekend at Rs. 224 crores. The first weekend is the fouth highest ever in India.

As per reports, Om Raut’s directorial Adipurush is eying close to Rs 100 crore opening in India. The film brings the tale of Ramayan to the big screen. For the unversed, early estimates reveal that the film is likely to record an opening day collection of Rs 95 crore in India alone. Trade expert Ramesh Bala revealed that the film is tracking a day 1 box office collection of Rs 40 crore. According to a report in Boxofficeindia.com, the film could be close to Rs 150 crore. It stated, “The final overseas numbers are still to come but a ₹140 crore worldwide day one is there for the film and this number can go to 150 crore when all the collections are rounded up on Saturday.” Om Raut’s directorial stars Prabhas as Raghav while Kriti Sanon plays the role of Janaki. It also stars Saif Ali Khan as Raavan.

Prior to the worldwide theatrical release of Adipurush, the film’s producers organised a special screening event in Mumbai on Thursday night, June 15. The event was for the film’s cast, crew, and their families. However, Prabhas and Saif Ali Khan were unable to attend due to their hectic schedules.

The gorgeous Kriti Sanon graced the screening and looked classy in a blue anarkali suit. She completed her look with minimal accessories, a sleek, straight hairdo, and natural makeup. Adipurush is finally scheduled to be released in theatres worldwide, including Nepal, on Friday, today. It stars the Prabhas as Lord Ram or protagonist Raghava, and is directed by the National award-winning filmmaker Om Raut. Adipurush Sells 1.50 Lakh Tickets In Advance For Weekend

Om Raut’s directorial Adipurush is gearing up for a release on the 16th of June. The advance bookings indicate an encouraging start at the box office. Adipurush has sold approximately 1.13 lakh tickets for the opening weekend, with 62,000 sold for the opening day. PVR and Inox are leading from the front for Om Raut’s Adipurush with 90,000 tickets for the weekend, whereas Cinepolis has approximately 23,000 tickets sold.

Adipurush row: Hindu saints call for creation of “Sanatan Censor Board”, says Bollywood mocks Hinduism

The Akhil Bharatiya Sant Samiti called for the dissolution of the censor board and the creation of a “Sanatan Hindu Censor Board” amid the controversy surrounding the Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan, and Kriti Sanon-starring movie Adipurush, stating that Bollywood mocks the Santan Dharma.

Karshni Nagendra Maharaj, in-charge of Kashi Vidvat Parishad, said, “This is a good decision by Akhil Bhartiya Sant Samiti to demand the constitution of a Hindu Sanatan Sanskriti Censor Board. I urge Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to implement such a policy. Bollywood insults Hindu gods and goddesses and Sanatan Dharma. In the Adipurush movie, Lord Hanuman and Ravana have been portrayed as Muslims. What kind of portrayal of Sanatan Dharma is this?”

According to Nagendra Maharaj, there is a vast Muslim conspiracy to malign Hindu Sanatan Dharma by employing Bollywood.

“These people always regress to Sanatan Dharma. They should be banned. The Central government should take a decision in this regard otherwise the Sant samaj and all Dharmacharyas will call for a big movement. The Muslim countries provide the funding with the motive to ruin the Hindu culture. Several Hindu nations of ancient times became Muslim countries. This is a big conspiracy to destroy the Hindu Rastra Sanatan culture. And Bollywood is part of this conspiracy and doing these kinds of works,” he said.

Nagendra Maharaj added that the censor board that approves such films ought to be outlawed. He asked that the Sanatan Sanskriti Censor Board be established right away.

Another saint of Kashi Vidvat, Dharmacharya Gopesh Baba, said, “This is a great initiative. This should be done. Bollywood since its inception has always been insulting Sanatan Dharma and Hindu gods and goddesses. They try to portray Sanatan in a bad way. And, this also impacts society. These kinds of movies should be boycotted.”

At a meeting held at the GNDC Convention Hall in Delhi, Nautam Prakash Swami, head of the organization’s branch in Gujarat, recommended the formation of the Santan Hindu Censor Board at a meeting held at the GNDC Convention Hall in Delhi.

He said, “India was a Hindu nation and it will always remain so. Indian culture is based on Hindu culture. Muslims attacked the nation 700 years ago, but Hinduism was not affected. It is the land of Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh. portraying them in the wrong manner, as has been done in Adipurush. The Film Censor Board defames the saints and Sanatan Dharma. So there should be a Sanatan Hindi censor board for the entire country. It is a country of Hindus and should be run by Hinduism.”

Nautam Prakash Swami also pushed for the dissolution of the Waqf board.

“The land controlled by the Waqf Board should now be acquired by the Government of India and the state governments,” he added.

A Delhi Court has received a petition that asks for a stay of Adipurush’s discharge.

According to the complaint, Lord Rama and Hanuman were inaccurately and unjustifiably depicted as wearing leather straps in the movie. Additionally, it stated that Ravana was depicted incorrectly.

The film’s producer and director, Bhushan Kumar and Om Raut, are the targets of the argument put out by attorney Raj Gaurav. The appeal hearing before Senior Civil Judge Abhishek Kumar of Tees Hazari Court has been scheduled for Monday.

It has been claimed that the portrayal of Lord Rama, Hanuman, and Ravana in the movie’s trailer offended the applicant’s and many other people’s religious sensibilities.

In contrast to the defendant’s attempt to represent Ravana as belonging to Middle East Asia by equating him with one of his Mughal predecessors, that is, one who invaded India, in the movie’s trailer, it is also claimed that Ravana is from Sri Lanka and that his characteristics are recognisably Sri Lankan. The accused has made an effort to pass off Ravana, a Brahmin, as a Muslim.

A permanent injunction against the movie’s trailer and promotion has been requested by the petitioner. Additionally, he asked for guidance on how to delete the teaser from all social media sites, including Facebook and YouTube.

In order to bring the Ramayana story to the big screen, director Om Raut created this movie. However, ever since the first teaser for Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan, and Kriti Sanon’s movie “Adipurush” debuted, there has been a unified negative reaction from various quarters.

People have been largely let down by the film’s subpar VFX and several characters, including Saif’s Raavan, who have ridiculous looks. Many online users have compared Saif’s appearance in the movie to that of Alauddin Khilji rather than Raavana after noticing his short spiked hair, lengthy beard, and kajal eyes.
