Paul wasn’t the crowd favorite. The majority of fans supported 39-year-old Chavez Jr., but they were quickly disappointed. In the early rounds, 28-year-old Paul dominated, while Chavez Jr. struggled to throw or land meaningful punches. The crowd’s frustration grew louder as Chavez Jr. failed to engage, leading to boos from the stands.
Jake Paul Dominated, Chavez Jr. Made Excuses
Paul — who last beat Mike Tyson in a high-profile match — tried to draw Chavez Jr. into action and landed solid shots in the process.
But Chavez Jr. spent more time arguing with the referee than fighting, claiming he was hit on the back of the head and below the belt — complaints the official didn’t acknowledge.
Chavez Jr. Rallies Late, But Judges Side with Paul
The energy shifted in the sixth round when Chavez Jr. finally landed clean punches and forced Paul to tie up. He gained some control in the final rounds, as Paul appeared fatigued and took noticeable damage.
Still, it wasn’t enough. Chavez Jr., who previously held the WBC middleweight title in 2011, landed just over 60 punches throughout the entire match. The judges scored the bout 99-91, 97-93, and 98-92 in Paul’s favor, improving his record to 12-1.

After the fight, Paul had strong words for the hostile crowd. “Shut the f*** up,” he told the booing spectators. He also took a heartfelt moment to send prayers to his former opponent Ben Askren, revealing he and his brother Logan Paul will donate to help cover Askren’s medical expenses as he battles pneumonia.
When asked about his next opponent, Paul hinted at big names. “Anthony Joshua, Tank Davis, Tommy Fury… there’s a long list of people who want a piece of me,” he said confidently.
