Rishabh Pant’s Somersault Celebration Slammed by His Surgeon: ‘Unnecessary, Risky’

Rishabh Pant’s doctor Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala, who operated on him after his life-threatening car crash in 2022, labeled the somersault celebration as ‘unnecessary’. After his century against England in the initial Test match, Pant executed an amazing summersault that left fans and pundits aghast.

But in an interview with The Telegraph, Dr Pardiwala stated that while Pant has trained as a gynmast and has the training and agility to execute it, the somersault celebration is perhaps not needed.

“It’s a perfectly executed and rehearsed move unnecessary though!” he added.

Rishabhi Pant’s First Concern After Accident

When Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai with serious injuries sustained during a road accident in December 2022, his first question to the on-duty doctor was “will I be able to play again?” related Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala, eminent orthopaedic surgeon, who operated upon the cricketing superstar after the gruesome accident.

The Accident That Nearly Ended Rishabh Pant’s Career

Rishabh Pant, who was driving from Delhi to his hometown Roorkee on December 30, 2022, lost control of his vehicle which skidded into a divider and inflicted critical injuries upon him. The car immediately caught fire, and it was only due to the timely intervention of bystanders that Pant was pulled out in time.

Severe Injuries and Miraculous Survival

He was extracted from the wreckage, and Pardiwala stated, “Rishabh Pant was miraculously alive – enormously lucky.” “When he first arrived, he had his right knee dislocated. He had a fracture in his right ankle too, loads of other minor injuries everywhere. He had a lot of skin loss as well, so all his skin at the back of the neck down to his knees was scrapped off in the process of that accident,” Pardiwala explained to The Telegraph, describing the vicious effect of the crash on Pant’s body.
