Mohammad Amir Shocks Fans: IPL or PSL? The Answer Might Surprise You | Watch

Star Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has come out openly to express his desire to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) rather than the Pakistan Super League (PSL) if he is made eligible via UK citizenship. Amir, who will start his PSL 10 journey with Quetta Gladiators on April 12 against Peshawar Zalmi in Rawalpindi, expressed this frank confession in a recent interview.

When questioned if he would feature in the IPL or PSL should the two leagues clash again next year, Amir did not hesitate. “Honestly, if I am given the chance, I’ll surely play in the IPL. I’m saying this openly. But if I am not given a chance, then I will play in the PSL,” Mohammad Amir replied.

Amir’s admission has evoked responses from cricket commentators and fans, particularly considering the historical lack of Pakistani players in the IPL because of diplomatic relations. His eligibility will hinge on becoming a citizen of the UK, whereby he could register himself as a local or overseas player in the IPL according to league regulations.

The left-arm pacer is still a key figure in Quetta’s bowling this season, but his remarks have turned the attention to what may be a critical career switch. The IPL remains the highest-paying and most competitive world T20 league, which attracts players who want the best of competition as well as money.

PCB Bans Corbin Bosch for Picking IPL Over PSL

This is in an associated development, where the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has banned South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch from featuring in the PSL for one year. Bosch pulled out of the tournament after being selected by Peshawar Zalmi, opting instead to play for Mumbai Indians as an injury replacement for Lizaad Williams.

With both competitions taking place concurrently this year, the battle of preference between PSL and IPL has become more sharply defined, particularly for international players with multiple eligibility routes.

As PSL 10 commences, Amir’s comments have added a fresh layer of interest in the event, posing questions regarding the future involvement of players in other competing T20 leagues.
