The International Cricket Council (ICC) has named Sanjog Gupta as its new Chief Executive Officer. He will assume office on July 7, 2025, and be the seventh person to serve in the role.

Sanjoy Gupta Succeeds Geoff Allardice in ICC

Gupta, whose past experience has been as Head of Sports at Disney Star, takes over from Geoff Allardice, who declared his intention to resign this January. Allardice joined the ICC in 2012 as General Manager Cricket following his stint as Cricket Operations Manager at Cricket Australia. He was appointed acting CEO in March 2021 and officially appointed to the position in November that year.

Gupta Looks Ahead to Cricket’s Expanding Future

“It is a privilege to have this opportunity, especially at a time when cricket is poised for unprecedented growth,” said Gupta. “These are exciting times for the sport as marquee events grow in stature, commercial avenues widen and opportunities such as the women’s game scale in popularity.”

Jay Shah Welcomes Strategic Vision in ICC

Commenting on the appointment, ICC chairman Jay Shah said, “Sanjog brings extensive experience in sports strategy and commercialisation, which will be invaluable for the ICC. His deep understanding of the global sports as well as the M&E landscape… will prove essential in our ambition to grow the game.”

Gupta assumes office at a time of significant happenings in global cricket, such as the game being added to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics and enhanced technological integration throughout the game.
