Dewald Brevis to CSK? Mysterious Instagram Post Raises Eyebrows Ahead of IPL 2025 Clash

In what could be a mid-season surprise for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), South African batting sensation Dewald Brevis set tongues wagging with a mysterious yellow-hued Instagram story, suggesting a potential move to the struggling IPL side. The yellow background — closely associated with CSK’s brand — arrived when the five-time champions were rock bottom in the IPL 2025 table with only two victories from seven matches.

Brevis May Be CSK’s Game-Changer

With CSK being in such dire need of top-order solidity, the introduction of Brevis can give their playoff hopes a much-needed boost. CSK’s top order has struggled to come up with consisten performances throughout the season till date, so Brevis’ attacking style and current form could be an added asset.

Chennai has now got a decisive encounter against Mumbai Indians on April 20 at Wankhede Stadium. As MI gets back to form, everyone’s eyes will be on whether CSK makes Brevis their newest recruit. His signing might prove to be the X-factor that the “Yellow Army” requires to revive their IPL 2025 season.

CSK Looking at Strengthening the Squad Following Injury Setback

The hype for Brevis grew louder after CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was confirmed out for the rest of the season following an injury. With Gaikwad ruled out, ex-captain MS Dhoni has taken over again and led the team to a confidence-building victory against Lucknow Super Giants to end their five-game losing run.

Dewald Brevis, the 21-year-old bashing batter often compared to AB de Villiers, went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction after Mumbai Indians released him. That said, insider information now indicates that CSK can sign him on as an injury cover, as per IPL’s mid-season transfer policy.

A Proven Performer in T20 Leagues

Brevis gained popularity at the 2022 ICC U19 World Cup, scoring 506 runs from six innings with two centuries. He has kept impressing T20 leagues globally with his stroke play and reliability ever since.

In his T20 career till date, Brevis has played 81 games and has amassed 1,787 runs in them at an average of 26.27 and a strike rate of 144.93. Seven half-centuries and a century are part of his stats. Interestingly, in the just-concluded SA20 2025, Brevis was the tournament’s second-highest run-scorer with 291 runs.
