Nauman Niaz, a well-known cricket historian, author, and television personality, has sent a legal notice to ex-Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar for reportedly defaming and demeaning him.

Dr. Niaz, who was once the Director of Sports at Pakistan Television Network, initiated legal proceedings through his lawyer after Shoaib named him as a “kit man” during his time with the Pakistan cricket team.

In a podcast, Shoaib stated, “Dr Nauman essentially used to carry our bags luggage for us in the team.”

Dr. Nauman had been the data analyst for the Pakistan team during certain tours when Shoaib was an active player.

Shoaib ridiculed the job of coaches and managers by stating, “That is what he did in the team. I don’t know about anything else he did.”

The notice made a demand for an apology within 14 days without conditions, threatening further legal action and damages claims if it were not heeded.

The two have had their differences. During the Imran Khan regime, Dr. Niaz had requested Shoaib to vacate a live PTV show over a small altercation. But after a minister intervened, Shoaib subsequently apologized, and the issue was said to be resolved.
