Mumbai Indians have recruited South African bowling all-rounder Corbin Bosch in place of Lizaad Williams, who has been ruled out of the coming IPL 2025 season due to a knee injury. Bosch, 30, has appeared in 86 T20 games and adds batting and bowling depth to the five-time IPL winners.

Corbin Bosch Joins MI After Strong SA20 Season

Corbin Bosch, who is still to make his IPL debut, was instrumental for MI Cape Town in winning their SA20 2025 campaign, picking 11 wickets. He has picked 59 wickets in T20 and has a career best of 81.

Confirming the news, Mumbai Indians issued a statement: “South African fast bowler Lizaad Williams is ruled out of the upcoming TATA IPL 2025 due to an injury, and Mumbai Indians have signed his compatriot Corbin Bosch as his replacement.”

Bosch’s Cricketing Journey

Bosch has played one Test and two ODIs for South Africa after making his international debut last year. He was also included in South Africa’s 15-man team for the Champions Trophy as a cover for injured Anrich Nortje.

The all-rounder had earlier joined Rajasthan Royals in 2022 as a net bowler and was later retained as a replacement for Australia’s Nathan Coulter-Nile. He initially rose to fame during the U-19 World Cup in 2014, where his dazzling 4/15 spell in the final fetched him the Player of the Match award, aiding South Africa in winning the title.

Mumbai Indians Ready for IPL 2025 Opener

Mumbai Indians will begin their IPL 2025 journey with a big-ticket match against Chennai Super Kings on March 23. With Bosch in the fold, MI boosts its pace front line as they look to yet again run for the title.
