Champions Trophy 2025: Here’s Why Team India Will Skip Warm-Up Matches Before the Tournament

Fresh off a 3-0 ODI series win at home against England, Team India will be entering the Champions Trophy 2025. Before clinching the series with an impressive 142-run victory in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, the Men in Blue got four-wicket wins in the first two Nagpur and Cuttack ODIs.

Before the Champions Trophy, which is scheduled to start on 19 February, the complete sweep provides Rohit Sharma and his squad a morale lift. Matches will be played in both Pakistan and Dubai during the eight-team tournament, which will be a hybrid format.

All their games in Dubai will be played starting 20 February against Bangladesh by India. Contrast with some squads, nevertheless; they have decided not to play warm-up games prior to the event.

Why India Won’t Participate in Warm-Up Matches?

Team India would miss warm-up games as their most current ODI series against England finished on 12 February as determined by a PTI report on the Claim of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) stated. The team is anticipated to reach Dubai five days before their match opener against Bangladesh—that is, on 15 February. Next in the group stage will be Pakistan on 23 February and New Zealand on 2 March.

Warm-up games for the Champions Trophy will include Pakistan Shaheens, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand. New Zealand and South Africa are already in Pakistan for a tri-series including the host; Pakistan Shaheens have formed three different teams for their warm-up games.
