Who will become Delhi’s Next CM?

With the BJP widening the gap, people eagerly await the announcement of Delhi’s new Chief Minister. In the running to become the next CM are many prominent faces in the party. According to insider reports, one of them would be announced very soon. Let’s have a look at the top contenders who can became Delhi’s Next CM

Vijender Gupta: One of the Top Contenders from the Party

BJP stalwart and former leader of opposition in Delhi, Vijender Gupta is one of the names in fray for the Delhi chief minister position. Gupta had represented the Rohini Assembly constituency for more than ten years which became a bastion for the BJP. With 70,365  votes, Gupta defeated Pardeep Mittal of the AAP by more than 37,816 votes in the 2025 elections.

Satish Upadhyay: Leading in Malviya Nagar

Satish Upadhyay, a senior BJP leader and Vice Chairman of the New Delhi Municipal Council, got a victory in the Malviya Nagar Assembly seat and defeated the AAP’s Somnath Bharti. Upadhyay has held a series of leadership positions in the party. He was president of Delhi BJP from 2014 to 2017.

Upadhyay defeated by a margin of 2131 votes against AAP’s Somnath Bharti. Bharti has been MLA from this constituency for three terms and won it in 2020 by a huge margin. However, Upadhyay’s advantage today appears to be a sign that the BJP may break the AAP’s stronghold in this important seat.

Manoj Tiwari: A Well-liked Lawmaker with Aspirations to Become Chief Minister

Manoj Tiwari, a BJP MP and a strong contender for chief minister is another important player in this situation.

Tiwari himself has played a crucial role in the growth of BJP in the capital. He said this to ABP News, and was optimistic about the party’s chances in the election. According to him, exit polls show public shift toward BJP as people are dissatisfied with AAP’s governance on pollution, waterlogging, and delayed pensions.

“The party will decide,” Tiwari said in response to a question concerning his possible candidacy for chief minister, “but whoever is chosen will work under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership to transform Delhi.” Tiwari is certain that the BJP will receive a resounding mandate from Delhi residents, as the party anticipates winning at least 50 seats.

Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma: A Strong New Delhi Rival

Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma, the BJP’s candidate for the New Delhi seat, is in a close contest with Arvind Kejriwal of the AAP. Verma defeated AAP’s supremo by 4,089 margine. This is Verma’s former seat, having served as an MP from West Delhi in the past.

Son of Sahib Singh Verma, former Delhi Chief Minister and keenly active in national politics, he has been part of numerous parliamentary committees. He has much political experience and hopes to send a tough challenge to Kejriwal’s long grip on the New Delhi constituency.

Rekha Gupta: The Bright Star of Shalimar Bagh

Another strong contender in Shalimar Bagh is BJP candidate Rekha Gupta. She won Shalimar Bagh seat with the margin of 29,595 votes ahead of AAP candidate Bandana Kumari with 29,595 votes. Gupta, a three-term local councilor, ran in the 2020 elections but lost to Kumari by a slim margin.

Gupta’s campaign has concentrated on tackling public concerns such as water supply, sanitation, and infrastructure. She actively participates in Delhi’s municipal politics and brings strong administrative experience. Her present lead in Shalimar Bagh raises the possibility that the BJP would be able to wrest this seat back from the AAP.

Dushyant Kumar Gautam: Battling AAP’s Stronghold in Karol Bagh

The latest vote counts continue to bring not-so-good news for BJP’s Karol Bagh candidate Dushyant Kumar Gautam. As a former Rajya Sabha MP, Gautam has contested several elections but has as yet failed to convert those into Delhi victories. Since 2015, the seat of Karol Bagh went to AAP, and BJP looks very little to come back.

Vijay Goel: The Leader with Potential of CM

Another surprise choice for the position of CM could be senior BJP leader and former Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Vijay Goel. He has been in the leadership cadre of the party, and he has a long association with politics in the national capital. He could well prove a dark horse in the race for Delhi’s top job.
