At least three people lost their lives, and 20 others sustained injuries in a blast at a mosque in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Friday.

Blast at Prominent Religious Institution

The explosion occurred at Dara ul Uloom Haqqania, a well-known Islamic seminary in Nowshera district, according to reports from Dawn newspaper.

Suicide Attack Targeted Islamic Cleric

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Inspector General of Police, Zulfiqar Hameed, confirmed to Samaa TV that initial investigations indicate a suicide bombing. He stated, “It appears to be a suicide blast, as per initial investigations. Some are injured, and some are among the martyrs. It appears that Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani was the target.”

Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani, a prominent Islamic scholar and politician, leads the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Sami) party. Authorities are investigating the attack while security has been tightened in the area.
