The Pakistani government has approved a PKR 1 billion master plan to renovate and enhance temples and gurdwaras across the country. The Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) finalized this decision during a meeting held under its chairman Syed Attaur Rehman on Saturday.

Key Features of the Renovation Plan

  • Development & Beautification: The initiative will focus on restoring, decorating, and upgrading temples and gurdwaras.
  • Financial Commitment: The government is allocating PKR 1 billion for the project, reflecting its dedication to preserving minority religious sites.
  • Increased Revenue for ETPB: Board officials stated that ETPB received over PKR 1 billion in revenue this year, which will be reinvested into further development.

Project Management & Execution

To oversee the renovation and operational works, the board decided to hire a project director. The director will also manage ongoing development projects at the Kartarpur Corridor, ensuring smooth execution of restoration efforts.

Boosting Trust Property Utilization

ETPB Secretary Farid Iqbal highlighted that the department is revising its development scheme to enhance income generation. Under this plan, underutilized trust properties will be developed to maximize revenue.

This move is seen as a step toward improving infrastructure and facilities for Hindu and Sikh devotees, fostering cultural preservation and religious harmony in Pakistan.
