A powerful explosion in the Khuzdar district of Balochistan, Pakistan, killed five people and injured five others on Wednesday. The blast, caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) attached to a motorcycle, was detonated remotely, according to Naal police Station House Officer (SHO) Bahawal Khan Pindrani.

Explosion in Khuzdar’s Naal Market

The incident occurred at Naal Market, with the injured immediately transported to a nearby hospital. District Health Officer Rafiq Sasoli confirmed that two of the injured are in critical condition, and five bodies have been placed in the morgue.

Authorities, including a bomb disposal squad, arrived at the scene to assess the situation. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Javed Zehri stated that the explosion took place near a college, damaging nearby vehicles.

Security Forces Prevent Another Attack in Pishin

In a separate operation, security forces arrested four terrorists in Balochistan’s Pishin district, preventing another planned attack. “Acting on intelligence, we were able to thwart a major terror plot,” SSP Zehri said.

Government Response and Security Concerns

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti condemned the attack, vowing that terrorism would be eradicated. “Those responsible for this attack will be brought to justice,” he stated.

Balochistan has been facing violence for over two decades. In January, a car bomb explosion in the same region killed two people and injured seven others.

The Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies reported that 79 terrorist attacks occurred last month, resulting in 55 civilian and 47 security personnel deaths. Counter-terrorism operations have led to the deaths of 156 terrorists, with 20 injured and 60 arrested.

Authorities continue to investigate the latest attack, as security efforts intensify across the province.
