The State Election Commission has announced the repoll in 69 polling stations of Old Malakpet (ward no. 26) following a complaint of missing party symbol on the ballot paper. The complaint was filed by a CPI contesting candidate who said that his party symbol was not found in the ballot paper.

“It is noticed that in ward No. 26, Old Malakpet ballot papers, the symbol of CPI(M) party ‘Hammer, sickle and star’ is printed instead of CPI party symbol ‘Ears of Corn & Sickle’,” said the SEC.

After the complaint, the SEC ordered repoll in all polling stations of Old Malakpet and instructed the authority to take necessary further action. The repoll will be held on 3 December, from 7 am to 6 pm in 69 polling stations. The Election Commission has also mentioned that in view of the repoll, publication, broadcasting and telecasting of exit polls on GHMC elections is banned till 6 pm, 3 December.
