In a breakthrough development, the Municipal Corporation of Panchkula has accepted the demands of the Safai Karmachari Welfare Association, ensuring a comprehensive cleanliness drive in the city over the weekend.
A decisive meeting was held on Friday, chaired by Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal and attended by Commissioner Sachin Gupta, with representatives of the Safai Karmachari Welfare Association. The delegation presented their demands, including equal pay for equal work and timely provision of shoes and uniforms.
Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal, displaying empathy towards the concerns raised, promptly directed officials to take immediate action to address the pending issues. Assuring the delegation, Mayor Goyal highlighted that the government had already increased the salary of sanitation workers to Rs 16,900, with arrears being disbursed from June 1, 2023. Additionally, the long-standing matter of uniforms and shoes for sanitation workers was resolved during the meeting.
Commissioner Sachin Gupta, in response to potential future grievances, urged the public to report any cleanliness or related concerns via WhatsApp at 9696120120, assuring swift resolutions by the Municipal Corporation.The association expressed satisfaction with the outcome, and the sanitation workers have committed to a city-wide cleanup initiative over the next two days.
