Special wards set up for vulnerable age groups as measures against COVID and Swine Flu

Health departments have made thorough arrangements before the arrival of the new strain of the coronavirus and swine flu. Special coronavirus wards have been set up with five beds. The risk of coronavirus and swine flu is from 0 to 5-year-old children and elderly individuals above 65. The Health Ministry of Punjab has instructed all Civil Surgeon Medical Officers (CMEOs) to implement strict measures against coronavirus.

While Kerala has reported the entry of the new coronavirus strain, Punjab has not yet reported any cases. As the cold weather approaches, parents become concerned about their children and elderly, as the continuous threat of swine flu affects children aged 0 to 5 and the elderly above 65, who initially experience symptoms like cold, fever, cough, and stomach ache.

Dr. Satish Goel from Bathinda Civil Hospital has stated that the risk of swine flu and COVID-19 increases in the winter season. Following the Punjab government’s instructions, a five-bed ward has been established to deal with swine flu patients. Dr. Goel further emphasized that before swine flu, symptoms like fever, cold, and stomach ache are common. If anyone experiences these symptoms, they should immediately visit the Civil Hospital for timely treatment.”
