The Chief Commissioner of Railways Safety (CCRS), Dinesh Chand Deswal, conducted an inspection of the ongoing construction work at the Chandigarh-Panchkula Railway Station. During the visit, he expressed satisfaction with the safety measures in place for passengers during the construction process. Deswal emphasized the importance of ensuring passenger safety at the world-class railway station and provided suggestions and directions to the construction company. Accompanied by Ambala Division Railway Manager Mandeep Singh Bhatia, Chief Project Manager RLDA Surinder Pal, and other railway engineering wing officers, Deswal held a meeting to discuss the progress of the construction. The inspection included a visit to the construction site in Panchkula, where various facilities such as reservation counters, waiting rooms, canteen, and an AC waiting room are set to be established. The three-story building also features an extension showcasing sample flooring, ceiling, and shed. Notably, the CCRS emphasized the importance of anti-skid flooring at platforms to enhance passenger safety. Chief Project Manager Surinder Pal mentioned the use of kota stone flooring with anti-skid technology, and highlighted that the ceiling would incorporate channels to secure electrical wires, preventing them from hanging loose. Additionally, measures were taken to ensure a bird-free environment in the station’s ceiling. Deswal concluded by stating that continuous monitoring of the construction work would be maintained until its completion in April 2024.
