The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has apprehended Revenue Patwari Harjeet Singh, posted in the Revenue Circle of Dera Baba Nanak, Gurudaspur district, for accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 as the second installment. The case was registered based on the complaint filed by Mandeep Singh, a resident of Malkapur village in the Dera Baba Nanak tehsil.
The complainant alleged that the accused Patwari had already accepted 5,000 for facilitating the mutation of his inherited land. However, the Patwari demanded an additional Rs 5,000 to expedite the approval process through the Tehsildar. The complainant documented all communication regarding the bribe demand from the Patwari’s side.
After investigating the allegations, the Vigilance Unit of Amritsar Range has initiated legal proceedings against the accused revenue official under anti-corruption laws. The accused Patwari will be presented in court on Friday, and further investigation into the matter is underway.
