During the elections, the release of paid news, fake news, and suspicious advertisements to lure voters is common. However, this time, the Rajasthan State Election Department has decided to closely monitor them by setting up Media Certification and Monitoring Committees (MCMCs) in all the districts. In addition, Advertising Certification Committees have been established at the district level for all 25 Lok Sabha constituencies.
Chief Election Officer Praveen Gupta has said that it is the election department’s responsibility to conduct free, impartial, and peaceful voting in the state. For this purpose, MCMCs have been formed under the chairmanship of the District Election Officer in all the districts of the state. The committee’s work has started with the announcement of the elections. The committee is rigorously monitoring news disseminated through electronic, print, and social media. So far, 35 advertisements have been received by the state-level certification committee.
