The Jammu and Kashmir administration sanctioned an increment in the subsidy allotted for the Beneficiary-Led Construction (BLC) initiative under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) within the Union territory. The Administrative Council, chaired by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, approved raising the subsidy from the existing Rs 16,666 to Rs 70,326 for eligible individuals part of the PMAY(U) BLC.
The meeting, which included Advisor to the LG Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar and Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, centered on extending this support to identified BLC beneficiaries of PMAY(U) to aid 26,419 households initially, as per an official spokesperson.
This proposal intends to offer increased financial aid to these beneficiaries, facilitating the completion of their housing units within the ‘Housing for All’ Mission deadline by December 31, 2024. The decision seeks to assist individuals who encounter challenges in meeting their construction contribution, providing them with amplified assistance, the spokesperson highlighted.
