The Commissionerate Police, while busting an interstate arms smuggling gang, has arrested a henchman of this gang and recovered 13 country-made pistols, 24 magazines, two cartridges, and a car from his possession. Amritpal Singh, alias Kalu (28), a resident of Bhullar village in the Sadar police station area of Tarn Taran, was caught with a pistol in the Bhaini village area of Chheharta police station on Sunday, when he was going to supply it. Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar gave this information in a press conference on Tuesday. CP Bhullar said that the police team, while patrolling near village Bhaini in the Chheharta police station area on December 10, overpowered the accused in a car with a Delhi number and recovered a country-made pistol from his possession. The police also recovered two magazines from the accused. After registering a case against Kalu under the Arms Act at Chheharta police station, he presented him in court. During interrogation, it was revealed that he used to supply weapons to many other areas, including Amritsar and Tarn Taran. The Police Commissioner said that after obtaining police remand for two days and
conducting interrogation, the police achieved a big success. On the information of the accused, the police recovered 12 pistols and 22 magazines from the backpacks, which were hidden in a plastic bag in a pile of straws kept in the stable of the accused house. In this way, the Commissionerate Police recovered a total of 13 pistols, 24 magazines, and two cartridges from the possession of the accused. The car with the Delhi number of the accused was also taken into custody. I used to bring it from Madhya Pradesh for Rs 35 thousand and sell it for Rs 50 thousand. Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that during interrogation, accused Amritpal Singh, alias Kalu, revealed that he used to bring country-made pistols here from Sendhwa village in Madhya Pradesh. In Sendhwa, he brought a pistol worth Rs 35 thousand and sold it to people with criminal tendencies in different areas of Punjab for Rs 50 thousand per pistol.
