Amid a surge in COVID-19 cases, the Health Department has issued an advisory to address the growing fears and concerns among the public. A total of 10 people in the state are under the effect of the new variant of COVID-19. The rise in patients presenting symptoms such as cough, cold, and fever has led to increased anxiety. While these symptoms are often associated with viral diseases, the simultaneous increase in confirmed coronavirus cases is causing heightened worry.
Despite the uptick in patients, doctors emphasise that the situation is not yet critical, urging people to remain cautious without succumbing to panic. Following the advised protocols for coronavirus prevention is crucial to ensuring personal and familial safety. Cases have been reported in various districts, including the capital Jaipur and Jaisalmer, prompting the Health Department to enhance sampling efforts and instruct field staff to remain vigilant.
In anticipation of a mock drill scheduled for December 26, hospitals are gearing up by arranging medical resources, including oxygen and medicines. The RUHS Hospital, utilised during the previous wave of the pandemic, is prepared for potential coronavirus patient treatment, ensuring an adequate supply of essential items such as beds, oxygen cylinders, and medicines.
According to specialists and the advisory, the current variant appears to be relatively less infectious. Home isolation is recommended for patients exhibiting symptoms of a normal cold, cough, fever, flu, or sore throat, with hospitalisation advised in cases of severe or prolonged symptoms. The Medical and Health Department has issued preventive measures, urging infected individuals to promptly seek testing and treatment at the nearest health centre.
