Aamir Khan’s movie ‘Taare Zameen Par’ fame child actor Darsheel Safary, now 28, is all set to begin a new journey in the world of acting with more ‘challenging roles’ to shine not only at the silver screen but also on the OTT.
“I have been also into the theaters for around 8-9 years where I had learned all the nitty-gritty of the acting,” Darsheel said in conversation with The Daily Guardian newspaper, adding that “I learned the craft to that level that I can easily now crawl into the skin of any role like I did in the Gamerlog’s protagonist Raghu. At this juncture, I love to do challenging roles. ”
He did not overrule the possibility of opting the ‘method acting’ if role demands.
On how being typecast in the industry for his image on the ‘Taare Zameen Par’ movie, he said “I want to blur out that image of mine. Being typecast is not good for any actor.”
Gamerlog dives deep into the high-stakes, emotionally-charged world of competitive E-sports — a universe that has never been explored in a fiction web series or film. Bollywood superstar Salman Khan praises the Gamerlog— Amazon MX Player’s latest webseries.
Featuring Darsheel Safary and Anjali Sivaraman in the lead, the series is produced by Abhinay Deo, Neeta Shah, Bharatkumar Shah, and Yug Deo under their banner RDP Pulp Fiction Entertainment and directed by Arya Deo.
This marks the first time that a mainstream Indian series tackles the world of gaming in such a grounded, dramatic, and relatable way. Gamerlog also marks the OTT debut of Darsheel Safary, making it an even more anticipated launch. The recently released series has already been met with enthusiastic responses, with viewers praising its fresh take, compelling characters, and emotional depth.
Salman Khan unveiled the official poster of the series and extended his best wishes to the entire team. “Congratulations to all of you, very nice,” said Salman, as he pulled back the curtain on the vibrant poster — applauding producers Abhinay Deo and Neeta Shah, director Arya Deo, and Arya’s proud father Ajinkya Deo.
Audience has evolved: Abhinay Deo
Talking on the choosing a different genre than his previous work for Gamerlog, producer Abhinay said, “I never believed in playing safe and typecast my work. I love to experiment and try different storylines.”
He said that he respects the audience and their intelligence. “We should not underestimate the intellect of our audience.”
With time, the audience taste has also evolved. It will outrightly deny any work when it is not upto the mark or provide any food for thought, Abhinay said.
“To make the audience love the craft, I have to leave my comfort zone and challenge myself with new genre all the time,” he said.
Women can also excel in movie production: Neeta Shah
Responding to the question that why women producers are less in comparison to men producers in the Indian film industry, Neeta Shah, one of the producers of the Gamerlog and several Hindi movies, said “women have to work harder and carve the niche to achieve success in the movie production”.
Asking whether there is season 2 of the Gamerlog series in the offing, she said that it has been ended on the cliffhanger so the possibility of the season 2 cannot be ruled out.
