A district court has given Artemis Hospital a contempt notice for refusing to treat a retired government employee cashless. Mohinder Singh, 76, a resident of Manesar and a former superintendent of the Rewari consumer commission, claimed that hospital administrators had requested money for his cancer treatment.
The hospital even threatened to stop treatment if the family didn’t pay up, the petitioner alleged.Singh moved court in March this year, pointing out that a notification of April 2018 made it mandatory for all hospitals to provide cashless treatment to government employees — both current and retired ones.
Civil judge (junior division) Sakshi Saini issued the contempt notice on Tuesday. “Notice be issued to contemnors (hospital) by way of ordinary process as well as registered post. The next date of hearing is January 6,” the judge said. ‘We have not received any notice or application pertaining to this case,’ Artemis declared.
