18 laborers allegedly held captive in Gurdaspur, seek rescue through video appeal

In Punjab’s Gurudaspur, 18 laborers, including children, claim to be held captive, and the information surfaced through a video circulated by the workers seeking their release. Local legislators have written to the Collector and SP regarding this matter. All laborers had gone to work at a brick kiln in Jalalpur under the Kathunangal police station in Gurudaspur district two months ago.

In October, Gopi Jangra, a resident of Gram Kharrri under the Belhadih Panchayat, along with 15 other family members, including his father Phagulal and Ajay Vinod, went to work at a brick kiln in Jalalpur, Gurudaspur district in Punjab, to earn a livelihood.
After working for about two months, the kiln owner is reportedly harassing the laborers, not providing them timely wages, and allegedly subjecting them to mistreatment when they demand their wages.
