A disturbing and an unusual case of theft has come to light in Jaipur’s Shastri Nagar area. Miscreants have targeted burial shrouds (kafan), leaving the society shocked. At the Nahari Ka Naka cemetery, several graves specifically those of elderly women have been tampered with and burial shrouds (kafan) have been stolen by unidentified miscreants.

Residents allege that the graves were tampered with during the night, with soil dug up and shrouds taken from specific burial sites. The incident has created panic in the locality, prompting people to inspect the graves of their loved ones for signs of disturbance. Local residents filed a complaint at the Shastri Nagar police station, demanding a swift and thorough investigation.

Adding to the alarm is speculation that the thefts may be linked to occult practices such as black magic or exorcism rituals. Locals believe that the stolen shrouds may be used in such acts and point to the fact that three of the disturbed graves belonged to women over the age of 85. This has led to suspicions that elderly graves of females are being deliberately targeted.

Police have not yet confirmed the motive but are exploring all possibilities, including the use of the stolen shrouds in rituals. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Bajrang Singh Shekhawat described the case as highly unusual. He confirmed that the police were alerted immediately and reached the spot for investigation.
