Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has achieved a milestone, producing 500,000 engines in its Chakan plant in Pune. This milestone reflects the company’s focus on localization, innovation, and green manufacturing and strengthening India’s position as a global automotive hub.
The Chakan plant produces two of its most significant engine variants, the 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI. These engines are equipped with the latest technology, including Active Cylinder Technology (ACT), which maximizes fuel efficiency and emissions, realizing the company’s vision for clean and efficient mobility.
India’s Place within Volkswagen Group’s International Network
Andreas Dick, Member of the Board of Production and Logistics at Skoda Auto a.s., underscored India’s significance in the global manufacturing strategy of the company. “Producing 500,000 engines at our Pune facility is a significant milestone, reinforcing India’s role in our global manufacturing network. Our investments in technology and workforce development continue to enhance our production capabilities, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective powertrains.”
