In a escalation of tensions, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei made his third threat against Israel on Tuesday, but this time in Hebrew. His posting on the social media site X called for the use of force against Israel and proclaimed, “We will not be merciful toward the Zionists.”
The threat came as word broke out that US President Donald Trump is mulling joining Israel’s military attack on Iran. With American involvement on the horizon and Iran threatening to target US bases, the Israel-Iran war is poised to enter a dangerous new phase.
Khamenei’s Threats Grow Sharper and Louder
Khamenei Hebrew message is his third warning of the day. He earlier posted similar threats in English and Farsi. Each post seemed tailored for its target audience—global, domestic, and Israeli—signaling a calculated messaging strategy. He operates three X accounts, each in a different language, to address different geopolitical groups.
This multilingual messaging is a reflection of Tehran’s intention to move up psychological warfare during the actual conflict. The Hebrew post had a straightforward warning: “We must act with force against the terrorist Zionist entity.”
Trump Considers Airstrikes, Targets Iran’s Nuclear Facilities
At the same time, the threat of direct US military intervention is on the rise. Several reports indicate President Trump is about to join Israel’s airstrikes against Iranian nuclear facilities.
This comes after a one-hour-and-20-minute-long meeting Trump had with his national security team within the White House Situation Room on Tuesday, June 17. Addressing CBS News reporter Jennifer Jacobs aboard Air Force One, Trump explained he does not want a ceasefire. Rather, he desires a “real end” to Iran’s nuclear quest.
Trump also intimated possible future increases in Israeli attacks. “Within the next two days, folks will know what is going to occur,” he stated, sparking rumors that combined US-Israel action is on the horizon.
Iran Threatens Revenge Against US Bases
Iran, though, seems ready. Iranian troops, The New York Times reports, have deployed missiles and military gear against American bases in case the US officially enters the war. Tehran’s retaliation would probably be designed to deter further American participation.
With threats flying across languages and continents, the Israel-Iran conflict now stands on the edge of a broader regional war. Khamenei Hebrew post marked a symbolic escalation. Trump’s tough stance adds fuel. The coming days may determine whether this remains a regional confrontation or expands into a larger military clash involving global powers.
