Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi issued the country’s first formal response following US airstrikes on three nuclear sites. Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Araghchi strongly condemned the move, calling it a severe breach of global law.
“The United States, a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, has committed a grave violation of the UN Charter, international law and the NPT by attacking Iran’s peaceful nuclear installations,” Araghchi wrote.
Iran Defends Its Right to Respond
Araghchi emphasized that Iran retains full rights to defend itself. He called the attacks “outrageous” and said they would have “everlasting consequences.” He added, “Each and every member of the UN must be alarmed over this extremely dangerous, lawless and criminal behavior.” Citing the UN Charter’s provision for self-defense, Araghchi declared, “Iran reserves all options to defend its sovereignty, interest, and people.”

Trump Calls Strikes a Military Success
US President Donald Trump confirmed the strikes on social media platform Truth Social. He said American forces had targeted Iran’s nuclear facilities at Isfahan, Natanz, and Fordow. From the White House, he praised the action, calling it a “spectacular military success.”
Trump urged Iran to choose peace instead of conflict. He labeled Iran a “Middle East bully” and warned of strong retaliation. “There will either be peace or tragedy,” he stated, making it clear the US will respond with “greater force” to any Iranian counterattack.
