The Iran nuclear bomb warning from the White House has added new urgency to an already explosive Middle East. On Thursday, officials said Iran now has everything it needs to build a nuclear weapon. The only thing left is Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s green light.
US President Donald Trump will decide within two weeks whether to strike Iran’s underground Fordo enrichment site. Though diplomacy is still a possibility, the US insists that Iran’s nuclear timeline has dangerously narrowed—and could pose a serious risk to Israel, the United States, and world security.
White House Issues Stark Nuclear Alert
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt made the blunt warning at Thursday’s briefing. “Iran has everything it requires to have a nuclear weapon,” she declared. “All they lack is a decision by the supreme leader to do so.”
Karoline Leavitt added that as soon as Khamenei issues the decree, Iran might be able to create a bomb “in a couple of weeks.” She reiterated that the threat is not merely regional. “It would, of course, be an existential threat not only to Israel but to the United States and to the rest of the world.”
Trump Considers Strike on Fordo Facility
The Fordo uranium enrichment plant is still a core concern. It is buried deep within a mountain and is fortified. Only America’s “bunker-buster” bombs could hit it, US officials say.
President Trump now deliberates whether to order a precision strike against Fordo. The White House confirmed that within two weeks, there will be a decision. Despite his threat, Trump still leaves room for diplomacy.
Nuclear Negotiations Still on the Table
Karoline Leavitt stated that Trump is still willing to negotiate. Any deal, though, must completely shut down uranium enrichment and take down Iran’s nuclear weapons infrastructure. “The president’s top priority is ensuring Iran never gets a nuclear weapon,” she explained.
Trump is said to feel that there is still a “substantial” probability that negotiations can satisfy both US and Israeli security requirements.
War Clouds Gather Over Ongoing Conflict
This admonition occurs during an open war between Israel and Iran. Israel launched strikes last Friday against Iranian military and nuclear facilities. It also bombed high-ranking generals and nuclear experts.
As the tension mounted, the clock now ticks towards a pivotal choice. Should Khamenei decide to go on and should Trump decide to attack, the region may be ushered into a full-blown war—one precipitated by a race to prevent a nuclear breakout.
