A three-month-old baby girl was rescued alive from the debris of a collapsed house following an Iranian missile strike in Rishon Lezion, a city located just 12 kilometers south of Tel Aviv. The early Saturday attack claimed at least two lives and left 19 others injured.
Israeli police confirmed the rescue on their official X account, stating, “Weapons item falls in the central region – police continue to isolate the scene and conduct searches along with all security and rescue agencies.”
Emergency responders found the infant with only light injuries and pulled her safely from the rubble. One rescuer, recounting the emotional moment, told Times of Israel (citing Walla news), “I pulled her into my arms and then gave her to the first police officer I saw, and then started lifting out all the other family members.”
He added, “As we were doing this there were people trapped in the home above and next door — and opposite there was a fire — and I’m trying to manage the incident amid complete destruction.”
Several homes in the neighborhood were destroyed in the strike, prompting a rapid response from emergency and police teams, who are still working to secure the area.
Tensions Surge as Israel and Iran Exchange Attacks
Escalation follows deadly Israeli airstrikes earlier in the week
The infant’s dramatic rescue took place amid a broader and escalating conflict between Iran and Israel. Israel’s military confirmed that Iran launched another round of missile attacks on Saturday, targeting various regions of the country.
According to AFP, the skies above Jerusalem and Hebron lit up with missile trails, though many were intercepted by Israeli air-defense systems. Meanwhile, Iranian state television reported that drones and missiles targeted Israeli military facilities late Saturday night.
This new wave of aggression followed massive Israeli airstrikes earlier in the week that reportedly killed senior Iranian military officials and nuclear scientists, while also damaging strategic nuclear and military facilities.
Iran’s UN ambassador stated that the Israeli attacks left 78 dead and over 320 wounded. Israel later confirmed that its military operations had successfully eliminated nine high-ranking scientists involved in Iran’s nuclear program along with several top military commanders.
Censorship Limits Local Media Reporting
Journalists restricted from disclosing missile strike locations
Due to ongoing military censorship within Israel, local journalists are prohibited from revealing the precise impact zones or sharing video footage of the missile strikes. However, reports from international media and official sources confirm multiple strikes across key Iranian and Israeli cities.
As both nations exchange heavy military blows, the situation continues to develop, raising fears of a wider regional conflict.
