Union ministers and BJP leaders send warm wishes as the couple combines Kannada and Tamil wedding traditions. Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya wed famous Carnatic singer and Bharatanatyam exponent Sivasri Skandaprasad on Thursday in a traditional wedding at Palace Grounds, Bengaluru. The wedding had a mix of Kannada and Tamil traditions, with the couple celebrating their cultural heritage.
Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal wished them well, while Karnataka BJP President Vijayendra Yediyurappa congratulated the couple and wished them a blissful marriage.
How Tejasvi Surya and Sivasri Met
Tejasvi Surya, two-time Lok Sabha MP and BJYM President, met Sivasri first at a concert in Chennai. The two became close to each other over time, with a source close to the family revealing, “During his campaign in 2022, he attended one of her performances, and that moment changed everything. What started as conversations about music soon turned into something deeper—they discovered a shared perspective on life, and before we knew it, they had fallen in love.”
Who is Sivasri Skandaprasad?
Sivasri, who hails from Chennai, is a professional Carnatic musician and Bharatanatyam dancer. Having a bio-engineering degree from Sastra University is not what she stuck to, however. She decided to pursue a life of arts instead. It was followed by a degree in Bharatanatyam from the University of Madras as well.
As the Founder and Director of Ahuti, she is dedicated to nourishing young minds with Indian cultural experiences. She works in singing, dancing, recitation classes, painting, and part-time modeling.
According to her LinkedIn profile, she has researched drug-induced developmental defects and has two internationally published papers.
Sivasri’s Rising Fame in Music
With over 1 lakh Instagram followers and more than 2 lakh YouTube subscribers, Sivasri has gained national recognition for her devotional music. Ahead of the Ram Temple consecration in Ayodhya, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised her Kannada rendition of a devotional song, saying, “This rendition by Sivasri Skandaprasad in Kannada beautifully highlights the spirit of devotion to Prabhu Shri Ram. Such efforts go a long way in preserving our rich cultural heritage.”
In reply, Sivasri referred to the acknowledgement as an “honour beyond imagination.”
