A Manav Sharma of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) took his life on February 24 after reportedly facing marital problems and harassment from his wife, who was married to him for a year. Sharma was hanging at his home in Agra, and the police turned away his family members when they went to lodge a complaint as they were busy with Maha Shivratri duties. The issue was later taken to the CM portal. Then Sadar Police opened a case and launched an inquiry on the basis of a WhatsApp complaint.

Emotional Last Video

Before this extreme action, Manav shot a seven-minute emotional video which his family found on his mobile. In the video, he spoke to the authorities, pleading, “The law must defend men, or else there will be a time when there will be no men left.” He went on, crying, saying, “Please consider men. Someone, please speak of men.”. They are extremely lonely.” He also recounted the emotional agony that resulted from finding out his wife’s infidelity, confessing to having made suicide attempts before. “I have always quit. I have tried suicide many times,” he disclosed.

Manav also apologized to his parents in the video, telling them, “Dad sorry, Mummy sorry… But guys please understand, as soon as I go, everything will be alright.” He was desperate, displaying past attempt scars and begging someone to realize the pain that prompted him to make such a choice.

Father Talks About Troubled Marriage

Manav’s father, Air Force veteran Narendra Kumar Sharma, revealed that his son’s marriage was marred by frequent quarrels and threats of false cases from his wife, which he suspects had driven his son to commit suicide. On the eve of his death, Manav had gone from Mumbai to Agra to leave his wife at her parents’ place.

Wife Responds to Allegations

In reply to the allegations, Manav’s wife Nikita Sharma said that she was unfairly made to face allegations about her past and that when Manav came to know of it, he started drinking and became aggressive. She alleged that she had stopped him from attempting suicide three times and attempted to seek help from his family but her calls remained unanswered. When he died, she claimed that she was accused of having caused his suicide and thrown out by her in-laws.

Police Investigation in Progress

The Agra Police have not arrested anyone so far, although an investigation is being carried out. ASP Vinayak Gopal asserted that the police had discovered a video on Sharma’s phone, which indicated the strained relationship between the couple. Although the investigation is still ongoing, authorities have not yet detected any tangible evidence for arrests.
