T Raja Singh Quits BJP Over Telangana Leadership Dispute

Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA T Raja Singh quit the party on Monday in the wake of a growing crisis of leadership in the BJP Telangana state unit. Singh, who made the move after news emerged that N Ramchander Rao is likely to be named the next state president — a development that Singh claims has let him down, along with many BJP fans.

Singh Criticizes Appointment of Ramchander Rao as State Chief

In a letter to BJP Telangana President G Kishan Reddy, which was made public on X (formerly Twitter), T Raja Singh vented his frustration at the reported decision of the central leadership.

According to media news, Shri Ramchander Rao is to be nominated as the new BJP State President of Telangana. This has come as a surprise and disappointment, not only to me, but also to lakhs of Karyakartas, leaders, and voters who have endured every ups and downs of the party,” Singh penned.

He also hinted that the party had ignored several other worthy candidates.

“There are several strong senior leaders, MLAs, and MPs in our state who have worked day and night for the BJP’s development and who possess the strength, credibility, and connect to take the party forward,” he added.

Ongoing Commitment to Hindutva Despite Resignation

Even after quitting, Singh asserted that he is still committed to the ideology of Hindutva and will remain committed to serving the people of Goshamahal, his assembly constituency in Hyderabad.

While I may be leaving the party, I am completely committed to the cause of Hindutva and the cause of our Dharma, and the people of Goshamahal. I will continue to raise my voice and stand with the Hindu community with greater strength,” he said.

Controversial Track Record and Past Legal Troubles

Singh is a firebrand BJP MLA who has long been a polarizing figure. He has always been known for giving inflammatory speeches. This has landed him in legal trouble numerous times. Earlier this month, the police registered two cases against him for using unparliamentary language and criminally threatening law enforcement while participating in a Ram Navami procession.

Singh’s resignation is happening at a time when the Telangana BJP is fighting to come up with a stable leadership hierarchy. His exit contributes to the party’s internal woes and could impact its approach as it considers future elections in the state.
