SOUL Is PM Modi’s “Brainchild”, Says Bhutan PM Tshering Tobgay

Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay has termed the School of Ultimate Leadership (SOUL) as the “brainchild” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and an expression of his interest in building leaders in India.

Addressing the SOUL Leadership Conclave in Delhi on Friday, Tobgay had high praise for PM Modi, terming him his “elder brother and mentor.” He said every meeting with the Indian Prime Minister makes him a better public servant by encouraging him to work harder.

Bhutan PM Calls PM Modi a Mentor

Tshering Tobgay stated, “Prime Minister, my elder brother, every time I have the opportunity of meeting you, I am overcome with joy. Your Excellency, Prime Minister, my mentor, every time I meet you, I am inspired to work even harder as a public servant. Your Excellency, ladies and gentlemen, friends, I bring to you warm greetings of His Majesty the King of Bhutan. Today is an important day in Bhutan as it is the birth anniversary of His Majesty the King. I am delighted that I am celebrating this auspicious occasion in India among friends led by the Honourable Prime Minister and including all the distinguished guests here.”

He added that February 21 was a significant date in Bhutan because it is the birth anniversary of King Jigme. “I invite all of you to join me in offering our prayers and birthday greetings to our beloved monarch, King Jigme,” Tobgay said.

Lauding the initiatives that went into SOUL, Tobgay also complimented the leadership and vision of the persons involved in founding the institution. “The School of Ultimate Leadership is the brainchild of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and it is yet another testament to the Prime Minister’s unwavering commitment to nurturing authentic leaders and empowering them to serve the great Republic of India,” he said.

Bhutan PM Joins SOUL Conclave as a Student

Tobgay was thrilled to learn leadership skills from PM Modi and stated that he came to the conclave as a student.

“I feel compelled to clarify right from the start that I do not have lessons to offer on leadership. I’m hardly qualified for that. Instead, I’m here as a student to learn. I am here today, myself, as a student and this student has been given the opportunity to learn this quality of leadership,” he said.

Describing PM Modi as the “greatest leader” of the world, Tobgay translated to Hindi, referring to it as an “ideal opportunity” to learn the art of leadership from him. “I am very excited to learn about leadership. In you, PM Modi Ji, I see in you the image of an elder brother, who always guides and helps me,” he added.

Comments PM Modi’s Leadership and Vision

Tobgay commended PM Modi for transforming India in just 10 years with his wisdom, courage, and compassionate leadership. He emphasized that leadership is about vision and transformation rather than titles or positions.

“Leadership is about transformation. It is about taking society from where it stands today and guiding it towards a future that is more prosperous, more peaceful and happier for all,” he added.

A leader sees more than others not yet see, believes more than others may doubt, and dares more than others hesitate. The greatest of leaders in the past have not just led groups or countries but have led a revolution of thoughts, processes, and development. Respected Prime Minister Ji, my beloved brother, you have set India on the path to progress in just 10 years with your intelligence, bravery, and humane leadership,” Tobgay added.
