YouTube influencer Ranveer Allahbadia on Monday recorded his statement with the Maharashtra Cyber Cell in connection with the controversy surrounding his remarks on comedian Samay Raina’s YouTube show, India’s Got Latent.
Summoned Over Vulgar Comment
Mumbai Police had summoned Allahbadia to join the investigation into the case, which sparked nationwide outrage. His controversial statement—”join parents in sex”—drew sharp criticism and was even discussed in Parliament, where MPs demanded stricter regulations for online content.
Although Allahbadia later apologized for his remarks, the controversy continued to escalate.
Samay Raina Deletes Show Episodes
Samay Raina, who is currently abroad, responded to the backlash by deleting all episodes of India’s Got Latent from his YouTube channel, as confirmed in a post on X.
Supreme Court Slams Ranveer Allahbadia
Last week, the Supreme Court strongly condemned Allahbadia for his remarks, calling them highly inappropriate.
“Such behaviour has to be condemned. Just because you are popular, you cannot take society for granted. Is there anyone on earth who would like this language? There is something very dirty in his mind which has been vomited. Why should we protect him?” the court remarked, as reported by Bar and Bench.
Justice Surya Kant further criticized the nature of the comments, stating, “The words you have chosen, parents will be ashamed, sisters will be ashamed. The entire society will feel ashamed. The perverted mind. The perversion you and your henchmen have exhibited!”
Protection from Arrest, Passport Submission Ordered
Despite the criticism, the Supreme Court granted Allahbadia protection from arrest. However, he was directed to submit his passport and seek permission from the court before traveling abroad.
