A fatal crash of an Air India flight with 242 passengers on board took place just after take-off from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The plane crashed in the Meghaninagar locality, hitting a residential complex, as seen in visual clips released by news agency PTI.

“Visuals show people running away moments after the Air India flight AI-171 crashed after taking off from the Ahmedabad airport.” PTI said.

Videos shared on social media capture the terrifying moment the Boeing plane lost height quickly and crashed, exploding into fire. A video uploaded by PTI captures frantic residents running away from the scene as the plane nosedived.

Several graphic videos of the crash have taken over social media platforms, recording the moment of impact and the fire that consumed the wreckage.

The tragedy has evoked an outpouring of condolences from all over the nation. Political leaders, members of the film fraternity, and business leaders have all sent their condolences on the tragic accident.

The Ahmedabad tragedy has shocked and saddened us. It is a heartbreak beyond words. In this sorrowful moment, my thoughts are with all those touched by it. Been in constant contact with Ministers and officials who are working tirelessly to help those impacted,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted on X.
