Their last selfie photo shows them smiling, unaware of what destiny has in store for them.
Family’s Final Selfie Touches Hearts Nationwide
Just before the plane took off, Pratik Joshi captured a heartfelt selfie, and the entire family is seen smiling together in the last photo. The family hailed from Banswara, Rajasthan.
In the now-viral selfie, Dr Kaumi Vyas sits beside her husband Pratik, while their three children smile next to them. The photo, shared by Kaumi on social media just before takeoff, captured a happy moment as they were shifting to London to begin a new life. Users across the internet are heartbroken and saddened, thinking of what could have been.
Dr Kaumi Vyas worked at a private hospital, while her husband had a job in London. He had returned to India specifically to bring his family back to the UK for good. However, none of them survived the crash.
Air India Crash Kills 260 People
The Air India AI171 was a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner carrying 230 passengers and 12 crew members. Just 33 seconds after taking off from Ahmedabad at 1:38 PM, the Air India flight crashed into a nearby residential area, causing massive destruction. It also struck the intern’s hostel at BJ Medical College, adding to the loss.
A total of 260 people died, with only one survivor now in treatment. PM Modi met with the lone survivor in Ahmedabad this morning and also paid a visit to the crash site.
Now counted among India’s worst air disasters, the tragedy is painfully captured in one image, the Joshi family’s joyful selfie before takeoff, now a heartbreaking reminder of dreams left unfulfilled.
