In an age where technology more often than not determines fun, a heart-warming video of Meghalaya has taken over the internet space, providing a poignant reminder of childhood innocence. The viral clip, which contains children enjoying a homemade bamboo roller coaster, is winning hearts in the online community and triggering very strong waves of nostalgia.
Simple Thrill, Big Smiles
Posted by the @travelling.shillong Instagram account, the video introduces an unusual village construct, a fully hand-made roller coaster constructed with bamboo. It says in a caption, “Bamboo roller coaster? This ride looks too much fun to skip but is it strictly for children? Something, apparently, adults seemed to largely concur when observing the joyous scene.”
Made of bamboo, the small roller coaster mimics the movement of its contemporary steel counterparts, providing an exciting experience with a countryside touch. Kids are heard giggling in delight as they have turns on it, their screams wafting in the peaceful village surroundings, a scene of unadulterated, unbridled bliss.
A Wave of Nostalgia
The endearing clip has tugged at the heartstrings of social media fans, who posted many of their own recollections of carefree, device-free days.
“Reminds me of my childhood days in the village… pure joy,” one of them posted. Another chimed in, “This is what real fun looks like no screens, no apps, just laughter.”
The ride has also been commended for the ingenuity and zeal of the villagers who constructed it. “What a wonderful use of bamboo! Salute to the people’s spirit,” one commenter said.
Some viewers were very much inclined to experience the ride, with comments such as, “Can grown-ups join too? I want to feel this happiness!” and “I would ride this in a heartbeat, honestly.”
There was also contemplation about how children are evolving in the digital world. “Today’s children are stuck to phones, they need this sort of thrill,” one user commented. Another commented, “This should be on every travel bucket list, real India, real smiles.
