Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, in a letter to the Assistant Director of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), expressed dismay over receiving a summons on the eve of his departure for a Vipassana Meditation Course.
Despite his widely publicized participation in the Meditation Course, Kejriwal received the summons, raising concerns.
In response to earlier summons, Kejriwal had provided a detailed response. Vipassana, he explained, is a method of self-transformation through self-observation, aiming to achieve a profound understanding of oneself at the experiential level for true “peace of mind” and a “happy, useful life.”
Kejriwal urged the ED to inform him of the details of the case filed against him, emphasizing the lack of information and the summons’ seemingly vague nature. He noted that similar circumstances have led High Courts to declare such ED summons invalid and quash them.
Asserting his commitment to a life of dignity, honour, and transparency as the Chief Minister of Delhi, Kejriwal stated his intent to attend the Vipassana Meditation Course, a practice he has followed annually for the past 25 years.
