Jaishankar, Global Envoys Arrive for Advantage Assam 2.0

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and diplomats from multiple countries landed in Jorhat, Assam, on Sunday to participate in Advantage Assam 2.0, a major investment and infrastructure summit. The event, scheduled for February 25-26, aims to attract substantial investments and foster international partnerships.

Jhumoir Dance Performance to Mark the Beginning

Before the summit, attendees will witness Jhumor Binandini, a grand traditional Jhumoir dance performance at Sarusajai Stadium. More than 8,000 Jhumoir artists from Assam’s tea gardens will showcase their cultural heritage, with financial backing from the state government to support the dance form and tea garden communities.

PM Modi to Inaugurate Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Guwahati on February 24 and inaugurate the summit on February 25 at Khanapara Veterinary College field. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed optimism, stating, “This summit will redefine Assam’s economic journey, with investment proposals already crossing ₹1 lakh crore.”

Key Highlights of the Summit

  • Ministerial Sessions: Union Ministers will lead discussions on Act East Policy, Infrastructure, Railways, Export Promotion, and Semiconductors, showcasing Assam’s economic potential.
  • Investment and Business Meetings: B2B and B2G meetings will provide a platform for business leaders, investors, and government representatives to explore collaborations.
  • Industry Participation: Over 150 industries and entrepreneurs will exhibit, including Tata, HUL, IOCL, ONGC, Vedanta, and BPCL. A 10,000 sq ft Assam Pavilion will highlight ODOP products, fragrances, GI-tagged items, and the state’s industrial growth.
  • International Engagement: Seven partner nations—Bhutan, Japan, Australia, Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia—have confirmed participation, alongside global CEOs and top executives.

A Transformative Economic Vision

The Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit is poised to shape Assam’s future, driving investments, enhancing infrastructure, and promoting strategic global collaborations. With a strong focus on sustainable growth, the event is expected to position Assam as a key player in India’s economic expansion.
