A Border Security Force (BSF) personnel received a hero’s welcome aboard an IndiGo flight on Tuesday morning for his bravery during the high-risk Operation Sindoor. Passengers applauded Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Rajapaksh B T after the airline captain introduced him as a “very special traveller” who risked his life to save fellow soldiers.
The BSF shared a heartwarming video on its official X handle showing the moment the captain lauded Rajapaksh’s valour. “During Operation Sindoor on May 7 and 8, Assistant Sub Inspector, General Duty, Rajapaksh B T, 165 Battalion Border Security Force, was seriously injured while helping fellow soldiers during heavy firing at the international border near Jammu,” the captain said.
“His fearless action, even when under attack, helped save the lives of fellow soldiers and forced the enemy to retreat,” he added. The IndiGo flight passengers responded with a round of thunderous applause as Rajapaksh humbly acknowledged them with folded hands.

Operation Sindoor: India’s Largest Anti-Terror Strike
The applause for Rajapaksha comes in the wake of one of India’s most decisive counter-terrorism actions. India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 in retaliation after terrorists killed 26 people, mostly tourists, in Pahalgam on April 22. The operation targeted nine terrorist infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir.
Indian forces swiftly retaliated against subsequent Pakistani offensives under the same operation. The Indian Armed Forces, including BSF units, played a crucial role in executing these strikes.
Rajnath Singh: Operation Sindoor is India’s Boldest Move Against Terror
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh highlighted the strategic importance of Operation Sindoor. Speaking on Tuesday, Singh said, “The Pahalgam terror strike was not just an attack on our people but also an assault on the social unity of India.”
He emphasised the operation’s unprecedented scale: “On every matter related to national security, we have changed both attitude and way of action of the government. The world saw this change during the recent Operation Sindoor.”
