Indian All-Party Delegation in Japan Reaffirms Strong Stand Against Terrorism

An all-party parliamentary delegation from India, led by JD(U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, is currently visiting Japan to strengthen cooperation on counter-terrorism. During their visit, the Indian MPs met with several senior Japanese leaders, including former Defence Minister Minoru Kihara and Shinako Tsuchiya, who heads the International Bureau of Japan’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).

MPs Stress India’s Commitment to Combating Terrorism

The Indian lawmakers firmly restated the country’s determination to tackle terrorism in all its forms. The Indian Embassy in Japan shared on X (formerly Twitter), “Fruitful interaction between All-Party Delegation from India with H.E. Mr. Minoru Kihara, Former Defence Minister of Japan, and Ms. Shinako Tsuchiya, Director General of the International Bureau, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). India’s strong resolve to fight every form of terrorism was reiterated.”

Further Engagements with Japanese Counterparts

Earlier the same day, the delegation also met with Yasuhiro Hanashi, who is currently the Acting Chairperson of the LDP’s Research Committee on Counter-terrorism and a former Minister of Justice. The Indian side stressed its united and unwavering approach to addressing terrorism.

The Embassy noted on X, “All-Party Delegation from India met Mr. Yasuhiro Hanashi, Acting Chairperson of the Research Committee on Counter-terrorism of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and Former Minister of Justice. India’s unified and determined stance against terrorism in all its forms was highlighted. Both sides reiterated their zero-tolerance approach to terrorism.”

Dialogue with Diplomats and Think Tanks

The Indian MPs also held a meeting with members of the Diplomatic Corps in Tokyo. During the discussion, they emphasized the nation’s firm position against terrorism and the importance of international cooperation. “Proactive engagement by the All-Party Delegation from India with the Diplomatic Corps in Tokyo at @IndianEmbTokyo reaffirms India’s unwavering national resolve against terrorism. United in voice, firm in action,” the Embassy posted.

In addition, the delegation held an in-depth conversation with representatives from Japan’s leading think tanks. They shared India’s zero-tolerance policy on terrorism, which received widespread support from the attendees.

Raisina Tokyo 2025 and Broader Strategic Engagement

On Thursday, the delegation participated in the opening session of Raisina Tokyo 2025 — a strategic dialogue involving leaders and experts from across the Indo-Pacific. At the session, Japanese speakers reiterated their country’s support for India’s fight against terrorism. As shared by the Indian Embassy, “All Party Parliamentary Delegation from India attended the Inaugural Session of Raisina Tokyo 2025, joining leaders and experts from India, Japan, and across the Indo-Pacific region. Speakers at the Session reiterated Japan’s support for India’s fight against terrorism.”

High-Level Meetings with Japanese Leaders

The delegation also met with key Japanese political figures, including Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya, former Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, and Takashi Endo, Chairman of Japan’s House of Representatives Committee on National Security. Suga, who also serves as Vice President of the LDP and Chair of the Japan-India Association, reaffirmed Japan’s support for India’s counterterrorism measures.

Members of the Delegation

The delegation consists of lawmakers from various parties, including Ambassador Mohan Kumar, BJP MPs Hemang Joshi, Aparajita Sarangi, Brij Lal, and Pradan Baruah, CPI(M) MP John Brittas, and TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee. Their visit reflects India’s political consensus and clear stance against terrorism on the international stage.

By engaging with Japan at multiple levels, the Indian delegation aims to send a powerful global message — that India stands united in its fight against terrorism and expects strong global cooperation in this mission.
