The Meghalaya honeymoon murder mystery involving the brutal death of Raja Raghuvanshi has deepened, with the arrest of two more suspects accused of helping his wife and prime accused, Sonam Raghuvanshi, hide key evidence.
Who Are the New Accused?
Meghalaya Police arrested Silome James, a property dealer from Indore, and Balvir Ahirwar, a watchman and carpenter, from Madhya Pradesh over the weekend. Both are accused of assisting Sonam after she allegedly conspired with her lover Raj Kushwaha to murder her husband.
Silome was caught while trying to flee from Dewas district, while Balvir was picked up from his village in Ashok Nagar.
Concealing the Crime
Police say that James helped Sonam hide a box containing jewellery, a laptop, and possibly a pistol believed to belong to Raj Kushwaha. The contents were allegedly destroyed to wipe out evidence. An officer from the SIT revealed that the property dealer led them to the site where the items were burned, though nothing usable was recovered.
The rented flat in Indore, where Sonam stayed after the murder, was leased by co-accused Vishal Chauhan for ₹17,000/month.
Case Background
Raja Raghuvanshi was brutally hacked to death on May 23 near Weisawdong falls in Sohra, Meghalaya, during his honeymoon. His mutilated body was found 10 days later. The murder was allegedly orchestrated by Sonam and Raj Kushwaha, both of whom are already in judicial custody with three others.
The recent arrests bring the total number of accused to seven, as the investigation continues to expose new layers of betrayal and planning in this chilling case.
