A French woman, who was raped in Udaipur, was lured by the accused to his flat as she entered to charge her phone, police said on Tuesday. The suspect, as identified by the police as Pushparaj Ojha aka Siddharth, has gone missing.

Incident Began After Party at The Greek Farm Cafe in Udaipur

The woman reported in her complaint that she had visited a party at The Greek Farm Cafe, according to a source.

“At night, my friends and I went to The Greek Farm for dinner. We partied then. A bit later in the evening, a man came to our table,” she said in her complaint.

Accused Took Her to Flat Under False Pretense

He persuaded her to go on a driver. The complainant testified that she kept insisting the man drop her off at her hotel, but he took her to his apartment. She had gone to the house to charge her battery when the accused forced himself on her. The man dropped her off at the hotel at 6 am on Tuesday.

Udaipur Police Launches Probe, Medical Tests Conducted

Udaipur SP Yogesh Goyal informed that the medical examination of the woman was done, and a case was registered on her complaint. He further mentioned that an in-depth investigation is being carried out to determine how the woman came in contact with the accused.

Police Search for Accused, French Embassy Notified

Station House Officer (SHO) Purna Singh Rajpurohit said the accused tricked the woman into stepping outside on the pretense of taking her around the surrounding area.

The woman was hospitalized after becoming ill. She is stable and receiving treatment at a private hospital.

The police official stated that a team has been formed to arrest Pushpraj. The French Embassy in Delhi has also been briefed on the matter.
