Father Kills 17-Year-Old Daughter Over Low NEET Marks

In a tragedy from Sangli, Maharashtra, 17-year-old Sadhna Bhonsle died after scoring low marks in the NEET mock test. This was after being beaten by her father, Dhondiram Bhonsle, who beat her for the same.  He is a school principal, and that is why this has become even more controversial. Parents are questioning his credibility as a principal over this as well.

Father Kills Daughter Over NEET Mock Test Marks

Sadhna, a bright and hardworking Class 12 student, had been pouring her heart into NEET preparation—the gateway to her dream of becoming a doctor.

Her father lost his temper after seeing her score low on a mock test. He beat her with a stick.

Sadhna was a determined student. She scored 92.60% in her Class 10 board exams. However, her efforts weren’t enough to match her father’s high expectations this time around. The brutal assault left her with fatal head injuries, and despite being rushed to a hospital, she couldn’t be saved.

Police Arrest Father After Confession

Sadhna’s mother reported the incident to local police on June 22, stating that the beating led to her daughter’s death. “The girl’s mother had filed a complaint at the police station on June 22, stating that her husband had beaten her up due to low marks, resulting in her death at the hospital. The accused father has been arrested and is in police custody till June 24. The case is under investigation,” said police.

The father has admitted to his actions, and the incident has deeply shaken the education community. Many are now speaking out about the intense academic pressure students face and how it can lead to heartbreaking outcomes like this.

As the investigation moves forward, Sadhna’s tragic death is a painful reminder of how dangerous unrealistic expectations and unchecked anger can be—not just for students, but for entire families.
