Delhi Braces for Heavy Rain Tomorrow, IMD Issues Yellow Alert

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded a yellow alert for Delhi on Monday, June 23, as light to moderate rain with thunder and winds of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour are predicted to sweep the national capital tomorrow.

Temperature and Humidity Levels Drop Ahead of Rains

At present, the maximum temperature in Delhi was 36.2 degrees Celsius, which is 1.3 degrees less than the season’s average. The lowest temperature was 28.4 degrees Celsius, and relative humidity came down to 70 per cent at 5.30 pm at Safdarjung.

Second Yellow Alert in Two Days for the Capital

This is the second yellow alert issued by IMD this weekend after it issued the first one yesterday when numerous parts of south, south-east, and west Delhi experienced showers with winds gusting up to 30–40 km/h.

Air Quality Satisfactory, Monsoon Likely from Wednesday in Delhi

There is a prediction of light to moderate rain and thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds in later periods today, air quality index at 68, classified as ‘Satisfactory’, measured at Lodhi Road, as per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

Monsoon to Reach Delhi by June 24: IMD Forecast

From Wednesday onwards, Delhi is likely to clear the way for the long-awaited monsoon arrival, following prolonged days of scorching heat, as it is predicted to witness thunderstorms with lightning throughout the day, as per IMD’s local forecast.

IMD had reported earlier today that the southwest monsoon would reach Delhi, Chandigarh and areas of Haryana, western UP, Punjab, and Jammu and Kashmir within the next two days, i.e. by June 24.
