A textile shop in Chandni Chowk’s Katra Neel area was robbed of ₹35 lakh in broad daylight, and four men have now been arrested in connection with the case. The robbery took place around 2 PM on Monday, when two armed men entered the shop and opened fire at the glass door before escaping with the cash. Shop owner Vicky Jain (40) informed the police that a third person stood outside during the incident.

The police received the call at 2:30 PM and quickly began their investigation. “Jain said that around 2 PM, two persons came to his office and fired at his office’s glass door. They robbed ₹35 lakh in cash and fled,” a police officer stated. CCTV footage showed the accused heading towards the Bagh Diwar Masjid after the robbery and later boarding an auto near the Old Delhi Railway Station.

Investigators tracked down the auto driver to Shahdara and found that the suspects had travelled through Ghaziabad to Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh. With the help of local information and photo circulation, one accused, Nikhil, was identified from the Theodi area and another, Shekhar, from Indira Colony.

“Shekhar was arrested from Indira Colony. He disclosed that his share of the loot was ₹13 lakh, and the amount was recovered from him,” said DCP (North) Raja Banthia. Nikhil was arrested next, and ₹6.5 lakh was found with him. He then provided the police with information about Tushar’s Instagram account, which led to Tushar’s arrest in Rohtak, Haryana. The police seized ₹7.8 lakh from him.Based on information disclosed by him, the fourth accused, Sahil, was also arrested from Rohtak. An amount of Rs 6,50,000 was recovered from him,” the DCP added.

Tushar, who had been in Tihar Jail till 2023 for robbery, had met Divansh, Shekhar’s brother, inside. It was Divansh who connected Tushar to Shekhar via Instagram. Shekhar carried out a recce of the area and called Tushar and another man for the job.

“Shekhar and Nikhil waited for the other accused outside Old Delhi Railway Station. Shekhar was on a motorcycle, overseeing the execution of the plan. Tushar and Sahil went to the showroom and committed the robbery. Then they fled to Baghpat, where they divided the loot,” DCP Banthia said.
